Bridgetown: The UNESCO heritage capital of Barbados is full of historic sites like the Chamberlain Bridge or neo-Gothic parliament building. It has a lively shopping street and a busy harbor where you can always have a chat with local fishermen.
Bathsheba: The most famous and spectacular beach in Barbados located on the East Coast. Take in this dramatic landscape or walk down the beach. Swimming is not recommended.
Hunte's Garden: An exceptional botanical garden where you can get to know the wide biodiversity of the Caribbean. Give yourself ample time to enjoy its peacefulness and walk the winding paths through the lush vegetation.
Barbados Boardwalk: This well-maintained road stretches 2 kilometers long and connects Rockley Beach and Coconut Court Beach. There are countless little rum shacks and bars to have a drink and watch the sunset.
St. Nicholas Abbey: This site dates back to the 1600s when sugarcane was first raised and harvested on the fields around the house. The house now serves as a museum where visitors can explore its renovated interior rooms.
Garrison Savannah Historic Area: Close to Bridgetown, you will find this historical and sporting site. The establishments hosts buildings like the George Washington House, barracks and forts. However, the most important is the Garrison racetracks where rich landowners of Barbados once raced their horses. Today, there are still races between January and April.
Speightstown: This remote village far from busy resorts areas and well-preserved historic towns offers a more authentic look into the real Barbados island life. Speightstown welcomes travelers ramshackle fishing shacks and age-stained architecture from centuries ago.
Harrison's Cave: Nature's unique phenomenon, Harrison's Cave is an amazin gallery of stalactites and stalagmites. Crystal-clear streams of water create breathtaking waterfalls and emerald pools. The best was to discover the cave is through a trolley tour.
Mount Gay Distillery: Sample Barbados's most popular export product, the high quality Mount Gay Rum and learn about its history in the visitor's center.
Barbados Wildlife Reserve: Meet macaws and green monkeys as well as other species endemic to the area. Entry to the reserve also gives you access to the nearby Grenade Hall, an old signal station.
Farley Hill: Get a glimpse into Barbados's colonial history at Farley Hill which now serves as a national park. The centerpiece of the preserve is a manor house which was unfortunately half destroyed by fire in the 1960s. There are many paths around Farley Hill to panoramic lookout points.
Animal Flower Cave: A short staircase takes you down to this unique cave where you will find sea anemones which are locally called animal flowers. This flower consists of tentacles that can sting and paralyze passing fish. The cave has large openings that offer views to the ocean and huge waves crashing on the cliffs.
Welchman Hall Gully: This tropical garden lies in the remains of a series of collapsed caves. This garden is home to some endangered plants and animals. There is a monkey playground where green monkeys can be spotted during feeding time.
Bottom Bay Beach: This beach is found on the Atlantic side of Barbados and has golden sand. Bottom Bay makes a great place for some scenic photos.
Sunbury Plantation: The plantation house was built around 1660 and it serves as a museum today. Sunbury Plantation will give you a glimpse into the life of the early settlers as your tour the establishment in a guided tour.
Folkestone Marine Park and Museum: A multipurpose park where visitors can snorkel, dive or simply enjoy the beach. The marine park is best known for a purposely sunk ship called Stavronikitia, resting at 120 feet deep. Paddleboarding and kayaking is also a popular activity here thanks to the usually calm water.
