We start our journey from the charming village of Bayahibe abroad our safari truck and set course to the outback country to discover the sugarcane fields. Here you will learn about this important industry and taste the freshly cut, sweet and juicy sugarcane.
Then we will visit Higuey which is one of the most important cities in the Dominican Republic and check out an authentic tobacco factory. We will also visit the typical Dominican market and discover all of the fruits and vegetables the locals love. It is an amazing way to discover the culture of the country but we strongly recommend you to wear a bandana here if you are sensitive to odors.
Our next stop is Gato to visit its exceptional community. In this tiny village the children and habitants will run on the streets to greet us and exchange small things. If you have anything you do not need and want to give to the locals, this is perfect place to do it. Depending on the season, if the school is open we will get the chance to visit it to complete the experience.
After our cultural morning we will head out towards the Chavón River which has got a mesmerizing view and famous from the many Hollywood movies that were shot in this area, like Anaconda or Rambo. The riverside surrounded by the magical rain forest is also the perfect place to observe the wildlife and the most bird species of the Dominican Republic. And do not forget to jump into the water for a refreshing swim here!
Once everybody is back on board we will continue our journey alongside the river and stop for lunch on our eco ranch. There some of the best Dominican specialties will be waiting for you.
For those who would like a little bit of adrenaline after lunch, there will be time for some rope jumping into the river, just like Tarzan. If you would skip it and stay on the ground, you can just make a tour around an eco-trail and discover the rain forest.
At the end of the tour we will board a large barge and cruise down the river. All you have to do is just to relax, enjoy the scenic landscape and the Dominican music. You can even try a few steps of bachata with us.
Between 0:00 pm and 0:00 pm we will drop you off at your hotel or cruise ship terminal as part of the free round trip transfer if you are from Bayahibe and Dominicus and for extra charge if you are from Punta Cana, Boca Chica and Bahia La Romana.
