Come and join us on this amazing half-day adventure filled with hiking and snorkeling. This trip is a true snorkeling expedition through the incredible Tropical Forest of the Dominican Republic that will lead you to discover the Cotubanamá National Park with all its hidden treasures.
Check in at our office in Bayahibe at 0:00 am or enjoy a complimentary pick up at your hotel or cruise ship terminal between 0:00 and 0:00 am. Exact pick up time will be advised after reservation. Please note that round trip transfer is only available from Bayahibe and Dominicus.
Once everybody is with us, we will set course to the Cotubanamá National Park and there start the adventure with a 40 minutes hiking in the Tropical Forest. The excursion will take place through the pedestrian path of Padre Nuestro. We highly suggest at least a moderate activity level to have.
Walking on this path you will learn about the intriguing story of Padre Nuestro, the ancient village relocated to preserve its highly important archaeological and geological part of the country. You will also learn about the Tainos who were the first inhabitants of the Dominican Republic and the mysteries of the cave formations.
This path will lead us to the cave of Chico II where you will put on the mask and fins and jump into the astonishing water to swim and snorkel inside the cave. Here we also provide a snorkeling course for beginners to maximize the experience but only swimmers will be allowed in the water!
After the snorkeling adventure in the magnificent, turquoise freshwater source, our guide will help you discover all the wonders this cave has to offer. You will find hidden corners, bats, fish, crayfish as well as stalactites and stalagmites which are the proof of the passage of time.
Leaving the cave we will continue our way on the path and come across some typical small houses and wildlife. The rainforest provides home and food for rich plant and animal life and also provides timber for the construction of homes. This is the most important and wonderful part of the country without question.
The tour ends with a drop off at your hotel as part of the free round trip transfer. We will arrive back between 0:00 pm and 0:00 pm to drop our guests from Bayahibe and Dominicus off. We cannot offer transfer outside this area.
