Cas Abao Beach, Curaçao is one of those rare Caribbean spots that actually lives up to the postcard pictures. Located on the island’s quieter west coast, it’s famous for its soft white sand, turquoise water, and gentle waves perfect for swimming or snorkeling right from shore. The calm vibe, good facilities, and stunning natural scenery make Cas Abao Beach one of my favorite places to spend an unhurried day in Curaçao.
Cas Abao Beach is often described as one of the most beautiful beaches in Curaçao — and after visiting several times, I completely agree. The drive itself, about halfway between Willemstad and Westpunt, winds through rolling hills before revealing a stretch of powdery white sand and perfectly clear turquoise water.

I like that Cas Abao combines the best of both worlds: it feels secluded and natural, yet offers all the practical comforts you’d want for a full day at the beach. The beach is privately managed, clean, and well-maintained. It has restrooms, a snack bar, dive shop, and shaded palapas available for rent.

Families usually gather closer to the snack bar, while couples and solo travelers (like myself) tend to spread out toward the quieter ends. Even during weekends, it never felt overcrowded — just lively enough to feel safe and social.

Entry costs about $6 per car on weekdays and $7 on weekends (2025 prices), which includes access to showers and restrooms. The beach opens daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and most people stay for the full day.
Cas Abao Beach is one of the best all-around beaches in Curaçao for swimming, snorkeling, and diving in crystal-clear Caribbean waters. The powdery white sand, calm sea, and excellent facilities make it a perfect full-day destination for solo travelers, couples, and families alike. Here are the best things to do at Cas Abao Beach Curacao:
The coral reef at Cas Abao Beach Curaçao begins just a few meters from shore, making it one of the easiest and most rewarding snorkeling spots on the island. The best area is along the right-hand side of the bay, where the reef gradually drops off into deeper water filled with parrotfish, angelfish, and blue tangs.
For those who want to explore deeper without tanks, freediving at Cas Abao Beach is an unforgettable experience. The on-site dive center, B Diving & Watersports Curaçao, offers professional freediving courses and guided dives suitable for all levels.
Cas Abao is also a favorite shore diving site for both beginners and certified divers. The same dive center, B Diving & Watersports Curaçao, operates right on the beach, providing full gear rental, tanks, and guided dives. The house reef starts in shallow water and slopes down to about 100 feet, filled with sponges, sea fans, and reef fish. Visibility often exceeds 30 meters.

If you prefer to stay on the surface, rent a kayak or SUP board directly on the beach and explore the coastline. The calm conditions in the morning are ideal for paddling past the cliffs and shallow coral patches while spotting fish beneath the surface.
After a dive or swim, nothing beats unwinding under one of Cas Abao’s palm-shaded palapas. You can rent lounge chairs for around $5–$6 per day and enjoy the view from the quieter ends of the beach. The sand is soft, the water warm, and the atmosphere peaceful — exactly what most visitors come here for.

Next to the main entrance, a small ocean-view massage hut offers 30- and 60-minute treatments using coconut oil and local aloe. The combination of sea breeze and soft waves make it one of the most relaxing experiences on Curaçao.
Snorkeling at Cas Abao Beach Curaçao is one of the top underwater experiences on the island’s west coast. What makes this spot special is how accessible it is. No need for a boat or tour, the coral reef begins just a few meters from shore. Cas Abao Beach snorkeling offers crystal-clear visibility and calm water ideal for beginners and experienced snorkelers alike.

The right-hand side of the bay is where the Cas Abao reef really comes to life. Enter near the rocky edge and swim along the drop-off, which starts at about 3–5 meters and slopes down into deeper blue water.

The left side also has some coral, but visibility and marine life are consistently better on the right. The calm currents make it easy to explore for long stretches without much effort.
If you swim about 100 meters out, you’ll reach a wall covered in sponges and brain coral — it’s the same reef used by scuba divers, but still shallow enough for snorkelers. I’ve also found small schools of squid hanging in the midwater here, especially in the mornings.
The reef at Cas Abao Beach is home to parrotfish, butterflyfish, trumpetfish, sergeant majors, and the occasional turtle or moray eel hiding in the coral. Look closely and you might spot cleaner shrimp or tiny blennies poking from the rocks. The coral itself is in good health compared to many beaches, with colorful sponges, sea fans, and star coral colonies stretching out toward the deeper reef.
If you don’t have your own gear, you can rent snorkel equipment directly at the dive shop on the beach — B Diving & Watersports Curaçao. They offer masks, fins, snorkels, and even underwater cameras. Prices are reasonable, and the staff can point out the best entry spots and current conditions before you head in.
I’ve snorkeled at many beaches around Curaçao, but Cas Abao always stands out. The water clarity is outstanding, the reef feels alive, and it’s incredibly convenient — you can park, grab your gear, and be in the water within minutes.
It’s safe, easy to access, and beautiful both above and below the surface. Whether you’re a beginner with a rental mask or a seasoned snorkeler with your own kit, Cas Abao Beach offers one of the best snorkeling experiences in Curaçao.
The on-site beach bar and restaurant at Cas Abao Beach serves burgers, fries, saté, salads and sandwiches, along with frozen cocktails, smoothies, beer and soft drinks. The bar is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (closes 1 hour before the beach). While food and drinks were available, service can be slow at peak times. Alternatively, there is a better restaurant near the road entrance to Cas Abao.

Located near the road entrance to Cas Abao (in Fontein/Bisento), Bistro e Lanternu is a cozy, well-reviewed bistro offering more refined dining compared to the beach bar. Guests rave about dishes like beef tenderloin, shrimp skewers and homemade desserts.
Staying near Cas Abao Beach Curaçao is ideal if you want peace, privacy, and easy beach access. This west coast area is quiet and scenic, with ocean-view villas and small lodges instead of big resorts. It’s perfect for travelers who want to relax, snorkel, and enjoy Curaçao’s natural side while still being just 30–40 minutes from Willemstad.

Villa Nèshi is a sleek ocean-view villa a few minutes from Cas Abao Beach. It has three bedrooms, a private pool, and a wide terrace overlooking the Caribbean Sea — perfect for sunset drinks. The modern design and full kitchen make it great for families or small groups staying several days.
Casa Ba-ooo Seaside Curaçao sits right by the water with panoramic sea views and direct access for swimming or snorkeling. The outdoor lounge and peaceful setting make it ideal for couples or friends looking for a relaxing west-coast escape.
Cas Cielo Seaside Curaçao is one of the most charming villas near Cas Abao Beach. It has a small jacuzzi-style pool that overlooks the turquoise water and access to a mini beach where you can step directly into the sea for a swim or snorkel. The setup feels private and romantic — perfect for couples who want a quiet oceanfront stay with unforgettable views.
Cas Abao Flamingo is a hillside villa with an infinity pool and sweeping ocean views. It’s named after the flamingos that often fly over the nearby salt flats. Stylish, quiet, and breezy, it’s perfect for travelers who want a little luxury in a tranquil spot.
Cas Abou 87, Palapa Lodge Curaçao blends local charm with comfort. Its open-air palapa roof keeps the villa cool, and the terrace with a private pool overlooks the sea. It’s a great mid-range pick for couples or small families.
Cas Abou Seaview Mansion is the most luxurious option near the beach — a large oceanfront villa with an infinity pool, multiple bedrooms, and sweeping sea views. It’s ideal for groups or families who want space and privacy close to Cas Abao.
Staying near Cas Abao Beach is wonderfully peaceful but once the sun goes down, there’s not much nightlife around. I recommend splitting your stay between here and a livelier area like Pietermaai or Jan Thiel for the best of both worlds.
Cas Abao Beach sits on Curaçao’s west coast, about halfway between Willemstad and Westpunt. The road leading there is paved and signposted, though it gets narrow and slightly bumpy near the entrance. The beach is easy to reach by car or taxi, and parking is available right behind the beach gate. There’s no direct public transport, so renting a car or arranging a taxi is the most practical way to visit.

From the cruise terminal, take Weg Naar Westpunt (also marked as the main road toward Banda Abou). Follow signs for Cas Abao, and turn left onto the smaller road that leads to the beach entrance. The drive passes through Tera Kòrá and the countryside — scenic but straightforward.
From Hato Airport, head west on Weg Naar Hato, then connect to Weg Naar Westpunt toward Banda Abou. Continue until you see signs for Cas Abao Beach, then turn left at the Cas Abao junction.
Drive northwest on Weg Naar Westpunt for about 30–40 minutes. Follow signs for Cas Abao Beach after passing the village of Tera Kòrá. The entrance road is clearly marked and easy to find during the day.
Head southeast along Weg Naar Westpunt toward Cas Abao Beach. The road winds along the coast, passing several scenic bays and viewpoints.
From Sint Michiel, follow the coastal road west toward Tera Kòrá, then turn left following signs for Cas Abao.
From Jan Thiel, drive through Willemstad, then take Weg Naar Westpunt toward Banda Abou. Follow signs for Cas Abao Beach after passing Tera Kòrá.
Taxis are easy to find in Willemstad, at the airport, or in major resort areas like Jan Thiel. At Cas Abao Beach, taxis are not always waiting, so it’s best to arrange a return pickup in advance or ask the beach staff to call one for you.
There’s no direct bus route to the beach. The nearest bus stop is in Tera Kòrá, several kilometers away, so you would still need to walk or arrange a ride from there. For flexibility, a rental car or organized transfer is strongly recommended. Check the Curacao bus routes and schedules.
Driving is the easiest way to visit. The main road (Weg Naar Westpunt) is well-maintained, and the route offers great views of Curaçao’s countryside. Follow signs for Cas Abao Beach, and pay the entrance fee at the gate when you arrive.
Parking at Cas Abao Beach is included in the entrance fee and located directly behind the sand. Spaces are shaded by trees, and there’s usually enough room even on weekends.
Cas Abao Beach is the perfect mix of comfort and natural beauty — white sand, turquoise water, and easy snorkeling right from shore. It’s peaceful and scenic, ideal for relaxing days, but quiet at night, so I recommend splitting your stay with somewhere livelier like Pietermaai or Jan Thiel.
