Description

Every year from January to April, nearly 3000 humpback whales come to reproduce and give birth in Samaná Bay. These marine mammals travel thousands of kilometers to spend the winter in the protected waters of the bay located on the northeast side of the Dominican Republic. This migration has been going on for centuries, as shown by the paintings found in the caves of Los Haïtises National Park.

Join us on an expedition to observe these beautiful whales in their natural habitat. We leave in an air conditioned bus from Las Galeras to the city of Samana, where we board our whale watching boat. Enjoy the open bar while your experienced captain locates the whales in the bay.

Humpback whales are known for their size and song, but also for their cheerful and playful temperament. They can reach more than 15 meters in length and weight up to 60 tons. Their large pectoral fins can reach a third of their total length and their jumps are majestic.

You will be able to observe the mammals quietly and freely evolving in the sea, alone or in groups. If you are lucky, you will be able to observe a couple and its calf, and if by chance they decide to offer you a show, you will be amazed by this unforgettable memory!

After the tour, you will be taken back to Las Galeras.
