Description
Upon your arrival to our dolphin office close to Mambo beach, at the Sea Aquarium, we will check you in and give you a wristband. Then you will enjoy a presentation in our air-conditioned theater about these beautiful mammals before heading outside for your 20 minute dolphin swim session.
You will stand in shallow water as a dolphin swims right up to you and allows you to gently pet him or her. A trainer provides an interactive lesson on the dolphin's body and behavior.
Our amazingly friendly dolphins will surprise you with their great intelligence and charisma. They will make you tingle with excitement as you play sublime activities. Let them share their joy and show you how to really have fun in the water!
You don't have to be able to swim for this experience! The whole session is completely safe, you are accompanied by our professional staff and you will be wearing a life jacket. We will take professional photos of you that you can purchase after the program.
All dolphin program packages come with free entrance to the Sea Aquarium. Those who are not doing the dolphin program but would like to watch can purchase the entrance ticket to the Sea Aquarium on spot ($21 for adults, $11 for kids). The aquarium also offers shark feeding, dolphin show and sea lion encounter.

We booked the Dolphin encounter online for a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 boys 9 and 11. We paid online in advance, in full. On arrival at the aquarium we found the academy and the experience was well organized. You watched a debriefing video and then split into groups based on what you had booked. We had 30 minutes in the water with the dolphins. Our guide/trainer was informative and knowledgeable. You had the option to purchase photographs after (it is not an option to not have your pics taken). My only complaint, they don't take any group photo's - only individual - and I would have loved to have a family photo of the experience. I did go ahead and purchase 4 individual shots which I received on USB (you have the choice print or USB) for $40 USD. Overall the experience was fantastic and I would recommend.February 07, 2019

I was sceptical about this dolphin encounter, being aware of several negative reports of similar experiences in other countries. This was much different, and we are very glad we chose to do this swim with dolphins. After a very careful orientation on how to interact with the dolphins when they swim near you, we then entered the lagoon (with fins supplied by the Academy) for a wonderful 30 minutes where we were able to swim close by the dolphins, and also signal them to perform various maneuvers and behaviours, including a kiss on the cheek! The experience of swimming alongside and then diving down with the dolphin was also amazing. There is also a debrief session where there is some education on preserving the ecosystems and protecting these and other animals. It was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend while in Willemstad!January 17, 2019

We (family with a 7 year old kid) did the Dolphin encounter experience. It was great and we certainly look forward to another encounter. You get to meet a Dolphin personally and very close, standing in the water on a platform in the water (about waist deep/ breast or shoulder deep for the kids). An amazing experience. At no time did I have the feeling that the dolphins didn't enjoy this as much as we did. The dolphins were very enthusiastically and patient. BTW it becomes very clear that the dolphins do this voluntarily and have the possibility to leave at any time.January 03, 2019
BTW the Dolphin academy is part of the Curaçao Aquarium, which we feel is hardy worth a visit. It's rather small and the aquariums look rather old/used, although the fish do look well looked after.

I have done Dolphin Encounters in two other locations. This one was by far the best of the three. We spent 30+ minutes swimming freely and interacting with 2 Dolphins. The trainer was present but not in the waterwith us, he coached us onthe best ways to approach and swim with the Dolphins and instructed to play games with us (Dolphins kiss, dancing etc). We took our family of 7 ( with 5 kids ages 9 - 17) to this academy for a cruise excursion. My husband and I had previously done a dolphin encounter - this one was far better and the kids loved it. Our dolphin was Caiyo and his trainer (whose name I can't remember right now) were absolutely amazing. The kids learned so much about the dolphins and the memories they made that day will last a lifetime. The timing was perfect and they also were able to feed starfish and sharks, catch a glimpse of the sea lions, and view the undersea fish from inside of a boat. I particpated in the dolphin encounter with Junior. Being that I was the only participant at 8:30am, I was awarded with extra time to enjoy the dolphins! Plus, our original dolphin had other things on his mind so another dolphin was called upon to allow us to touch, 'kiss', and demonstrate. Junior was so very knowledgeable and excellent with the dolphins! All the trainers are very patient with the dolphins and allow them to conduct the show, meaning if the dolphins do not want to participate, they simply ask another dolphin to join.
This place is truly amazing and what they do for these animals is always in their best interest! I have learned about deep water pollution that affects animals communication and alters their moods, which is detrimental. Please learn about Silent Oceans to do your part!

After a dolphin encounter where a trainer brought a dolphin to a small group, provided an opportunity to learn about and interact with the dolphin, we enjoyed the rest of sea aquarium. The dolphin academy is one of the best I have seen. They take the dolphins out into open water daily. Just as other locations, this location is also into preserving the cleanliness of the world's waterways. Everyone here was pleasant and the experience was second to none. Curaçao Dolphin Academy is an extremely nice place for both children and adults to visit while on vacation. One of the best things about the Academy is that the Dolphins do not reside in swimming pools but in the waters of the ocean. The dolphins appear to be well taken care of by knowledgeable and caring trainers. The Dolphin Encounter is wonderful! The cost is $99.00 for ages 5 years and older and the encounter takes place at 8:30, 11:00, and 2:00pm. Please note that children 8 and under much be accompanied by a paying adult. I would definitely purchase any activities prior to arrival to avoid sell out. That happened on my first visit to Curacao in 2013. The cost is definitely worth it because the groups are small which results in a more intimate experience. Prior to entering the area for the encounter you will have an opportunity to view a few child friendly exhibits. These exhibits provide great information for kids prior to an encounter or swim. Also, there is a viewing area where you can use binoculars to watch the dolphin show from the window. Prior to the encounter each participant will sign a wavier and watch a short film regarding what will be experienced depending on your choice of program. I truly enjoyed our visit because the main goal of our encounter by the trainer was not simply to sell photos but to provide valuable information about dolphins. This made the encounter far more enjoyable. Please note that the presentation sometimes will be given in multiple languages depending on the demographics of the group. Our presentation was given in both English and Dutch which was not a problem. We enjoyed learning all that our trainer taught during the presentation. Please note that once the dolphin program is over you still have free access to the aquarium. You can grab a smoothie or snack of your choice and enjoy. Also, try to catch the Dolphin Show which is short but entertaining. The Aquarium is small but they have a variety of scheduled activities so be sure to obtain a schedule upon checkin. The Dolphin Academy is a wonderful place to visit for all ages. Our visit provided us with sheer joy which is simply.....Priceless!!!! Thanks for a wonderful visit with the dolphins on the amazing island call Curaçao.

While in Curacao we decided to swim with the Dolphins! Our group is usually a large group of Parents and adult children. there were 8 of us ! everyone in the group had a great time! We did the Dolphin encounter but you can also do the Dolphin Swim! Come early and watch a few of the shows and wander around after through the Aquarium! I booked the dolphin encounter, which consists of standing on a platform in a lagoon with a trainer. You can pet the dolphin, hold it's fins, and have it give you a kiss. You cannot bring your own camera in as there is a photographer and you can buy the pictures afterwords, At the time I was there, it was $79 for the encounter and $45 for 3 pictures, one printed and all three on a USB stick with some other pictures from the park. The dolphin encounter was a great experience. Instructions and guidance by the trainers was awesome. The dolphin was very friendly and it was amazing to be able to touch them en learn more about them. It is somewhat pricy, but worth it all the way...after all you get a memory for life! Our 4-years-old really loved the experience: she got face to fave with a dolphin, touched it, made it do tricks. We paid full prize for the child and one parent, and the other one was close enough to take pictures -that is without having to pay for the one the Academy is selling. You also get to see marine life and flamingos, but not on their natural location. For that, you have to drive elsewhere on the island. Still had a good time.April 10, 2018
