Join us on a full-day sightseeing tour of Santo Domingo with a knowledgeable guide. We depart from Las Galeras early morning and arrive to the capital in about 3 hours where your sightseeing tour starts.
We arrive to the Colonial Zone (Zona Colonial), stationed on the shores of the Ozama River, where we start our tour of the oldest European-settled city in the Western Hemisphere.
Navigate the stunning city streets with your local guide, who will point out incredible Spanish architecture and offer up commentary on Santo Domingo’s history, culture, food and people. See where Christopher Columbus’ son once lived, as well as the current home of Alcazar de Colon Museum.
Follow your guide down Calle las Damas, one of the oldest streets in the country, and pay a visit to the National Pantheon, which was once a Jesuit church. Your guide will also take you to the promenade known as Malecon, near the riverfront and Parque Colon, the central square in Santo Domingo where both locals and travelers gather to take in a true slice of Dominican life. We will also visit the Catedral Primada de America, the oldest cathedral in the Western Hemisphere.
No tour to Santo Domingo would be complete without a visit to its natural wonder, Los Tres Ojos. This national park houses three limestone caverns, each of which features a lake. If you are visiting with our guide, you may be lucky enough to explore a hidden fourth chamber only accessible by boat. This secret pool is more open to the outside world and is beautifully lit up in reflected greens and blues.
Lunch is included in the trip in a local restaurant and an open bar of soft drinks is yours to enjoy on the bus. We will arrive back to Las Galeras around 8:00-9:00 pm.
