Description

The Punta Cana Jeep safari starts with a pick up at your hotel between 7:15 and 8:35 am. Exact pick up time will be advised after reservation. Complimentary round trip transfer is available from the cruises ship terminal and hotels in Punta Cana, Bavaro and Cap Cana.

After a short introduction to the operation of the Jeep Wrangler, we will start the guided excursion. The Jeeps are driven by one of the participants and not a guide. You can either choose to book a shared Jeep or a private Jeep just for your group. Jeeps are for 4 adults maximum, or 2 adults and 3 children below 10 years. Seat boosters are available.

You will drive along the Punta Cana coastal road to Miches in the north-east of the island. We will first stop at a sugar cane plantation where you can see how the majority of Haitian people work on the fields.

We will travel through rural areas and mountains with spectacular panoramic views before arriving to our ranch. Saddle up and get ready to ride your horse through beautiful scenic landscape. Don't worry if you have never ridden a horse before, this horseback riding tour is designed for beginners. Little children can ride with their parents or with our guides but you can decide to skip this part entirely.

The tour will continue by Jeep towards Anamuya village where we will observe how local people live. We will drive past many colorful Caribbean houses which will be a great photo opportunity.

Practice your off-road driving skills on a 1-mile dirt road to Atabeyra Ranch where you will be served a delicious Caribbean style buffet lunch with non-alcoholic drinks.

Explore the backyard garden of the ranch where you will find a cocoa coffee plantation and you can observe the ancient way of preparing organic coffee with a free tasting. You can also enter a typical Dominican village house and see its interior.

After lunch, it is time for the thrilling ziplining experience. You will fly over tropical vegetation in a 4-line ziplining adventure with panoramic view of the jungle. Professional guides will aim you along the full course.

Start your Jeep Wrangler engine again and drive along scenic routes between small villages and lush vegetation to end up in the beautiful Macao Beach for a refreshing swim. This beautiful beach and its shallow water are the best for relaxing after a full day adventure.

This is a fabulous tour to take! We paid extra to have the Jeep to ourselves (just myself and my spouse). The Jeeps were in immaculate condition, the tour guides very knowledgeable and enjoyable to visit with. The experience to learn of the DR country, their customs/food/countryside was invaluable. When we visit the DR, we will choose to take this tour again!

Visited from the US, always felt safe. We paid extra to have the jeep to ourselves. The guides were friendly and informative about life in the DR. Your in the jeep quite a bit of the time driving place to place and enjoying the beautiful green lush scenery. You also see the small towns in between and the people. Started off in the sugar cane fields. Enjoyed the zip lining safe and professional, the scenery was beautiful. Then sat you down to experience their coffe and cocoa plant? Enjoyed lunch atop a large open bungalow with a great view, food was very good authentic DR cuisine by an amazing chef. Ended up on the Macao beach, don't forget to take a towel if you plan on getting in the water. So glad we took this excursion and got to experience the countryside, we normally would not have. They are hard workers, from the lady who makes your chocolate to the chef please remember to tip.

This jeep excursion was a good time. We were very surprised with how new and clean the Jeeps were. They ran great and were a lot of fun to drive. The guides were really friendly and taught us a lot about life in the DR.

The focus of this excursion is being in Jeep as you spend the majority time driving from place to place. We enjoyed the drive as we got to see a lot of different things. The horseback riding felt a little rushed. The guy at our resort selling us on this trip said it would be a 30-45 minute ride, but it was only 15 minutes around the ranch. He also failed to let us know the last stop is at the beach so we weren’t prepared for that either. This is less fault of the excursion itself and more the guy at the resort trying to sell us on it. We think it would be better to have more time on the horses so it feels less rushed.

The zip lines were fun. There are 4 lines, and the 3rd one was super long and allowed you to get going real fast. The stop at Macao beach was also beautiful and fun. Even though we weren’t prepared for it, we still enjoyed walking along the water and taking pictures. There were bathrooms throughout the trip that were decent enough. The lunch was pretty good too. It’s a chance to eat typical Dominican food which is in line with the whole experience.

If you’re looking for a way to get away from the resort and see what the DR is really like, this is a great way to do it.

Great Expedition - Would do it again!(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)Recommended

I traveled to Punta Cana from the USA so obviously being in a foreign country is a bit uneasy especially when leaving the resort you're staying at.

My biggest fear was if this was going to be a safe trip. Throughout the entire tour, there was not ONE time that I did not feel unsafe. The expedition was amazing and very humbling to see first hand how the people of the Dominican live.

It starts with you getting picked up from your resort in one of the big tourist trucks and taken to the Blue Travel office where all the Jeeps are washed and stored.

Upon arriving at the office, you then chat with the tour guide(s) and get assigned your Jeep. We paid the extra to have our own Jeep because I'd rather drive than be a passenger with someone I've never met before.

You start driving the highway for about 40 minutes to the Sugar Plantation where you get to try fresh sugarcane that the guides cut for you. After learning about the culture there you then drive to thew horseback riding.

Horseback riding I've never done before, but it was a pretty cool experience. You ride in a large circle I believe for about 20 minutes.

Next is a 5-10 minute drive to the zip lines. I was nervous about the safety with zip lining in a different country, but they cared VERY MUCH about safety and made sure you knew exactly how everything worked. You zip line 4 times from platform to platform. There is a little bit of a hike for people who aren't in such great shape, like me.

After zip lining you drive to get lunch at a local cuisine. Beautiful views and an amazing cook.

After eating you make your way to Macao beach and enjoy the water & views.

Overall this trip was AMAZING! Well worth the money and would do it again.

P.S. Not sure why everyone complains about the bathrooms. There was plenty of working restrooms at each location other than the sugar plantation and beach (obviously).

What an amazing day! Jeep tour through the Dominican countryside with stops at a sugar cane farm, a horseback ride, a stop to learn about cocoa and coffee production (with delicious samples). THEN a zipline ride over the jungle, an authentic Dominican lunch, and finally a visit to the beach at Macao. I loved being able to see more of DR than just our resort; the people here are so gracious and hardworking. We were vacationing with friends this time, but cannot wait to bring our two boys (ages 9 and 12) so they can experience this tour!

I believe it costs more than you get... Too little time for horse riding (only 15 min and only walk), although our tour agent told about 30-40 min with trot. Food was good. Zip line so so -4 lines. And my main disappointment -is that staff didn't, let us open the roof of jeep... They were unfriendly and cry on us, when we try to open at the end of the adventure. A lot of high way driving and no off road...
Response from supplier
Dear Customer,

for what you payed you have got a full day driving your own 2018 jeep wrangler for over 75 miles between Dominican landscape, sugar field off road, horseback riding, zip lines, lunch and the beach.
The regular zip lines alone is 89 usd and you payed 134 for the full day.
The reason why we don't let you open the roof is just because during the ride in the sugar fields there's lot of dust into the car which is very unhealthy to breath .
Also, in the past, customers who didn't know how to handle a jeep wrangler soft blend roof , opened the roof during the ride and the full roof flew away.
In a couple of times the cost to repair the damage was 4.500 usd each car and the client didn't want to assume the expense.
I think that it's incorrect to write a review just like that for such issue, you should have asked to the Guides why it's better not to open the roof instead of complain for everything.

Words cannot express how phenomenal this tour was. In one full day, we managed to zip line, horse back ride, visit a sugar cane plantation, have a delicious lunch in a stunning landscape, visit a breathtaking beach where I got to hold a capuchin monkey!, and drive through several small towns to see how the locals live all in our own private fancy jeep! The tour guide was so knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Not only did we have a tour guide but a full entourage of tour staff accompanied us on our journey. They were on it!... attending to our every need and ensuring that we managed to stay together on road blocking traffic as necessary. They surely did impress! If you pick one thing to do while in Punta Cana, make this your tour of choice!!!!!! You will NOT be disappointed!

The Super Jeep excursion offers a little bit of everything. We were able to experience small towns, mountainous scenery, local food and culture, educational demonstrations, zip lining, horseback riding and the beach all in one day! The Super Jeep staff was friendly and helpful. Every activity ran very smoothly and was well coordinated. There was no standing around and waiting for anything. We felt very safe the whole time and it was very convenient that we were able to drive our own Jeep and ride together with the people with whom we were vacationing. This was by far THE BEST excursion we did during our vacation! We would highly recommend it.

Dear Amy,

it's great to hear from you that you have been very satisfied about our great tour.
In fact, Super Jeep Expedition gives you the possibility to discover the Resorts outside world in the best way, driving your own jeep wrangler.
Others activities included in the tour like horseback riding and zip lines make this even more interesting for the whole family.
Thank you again to be part of our excursion.

We had an amazing time on this tour. Radi, our tour guide, was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable about the area and gave a great tour. We were picked up from the resort and taken to the meeting area where the Jeeps were stored. They were clean both inside and out. We then drove to a sugar plantation where we did a little off-roading. Here we got out and where given information regarding the harvesting of the sugar cane. We were also able to taste it. Then we drove to the horse back riding ranch. Along the drive there, we traveled through many local villages seeming the people and the culture. After saddling up, we were taken on a short ride through the countryside. We were given no instruction on how to “drive” the horse so there were a few people who had some troubles. After this, we then continued on to the zip-line. Here we were suited/belted up and then passed through a second safety check. There were 4 zips-1 of which was pretty short. The other 3 were long and pretty fast. You need to be able to hand-brake on this zip-line. After this, we sat and were given information about the exports and other products. Got to try cocoa beans directly from the inside of the “nut”, hot chocolate made from the cocoa, coffee, and actual chocolate candy. And let’s not forget the mamajuana shot for the adults. After this, we continued to a local restaurant where we ate local cuisine. And our final stop was at Macao beach. This was the oddest part of the trip. It was a public beach and really had nothing exciting about it. We were staying at an all-inclusive resort with a beautiful beach and didn’t need to be hassled by the locals here. My recommendation to the company would be to head back after lunch. All in all, it was a fun excursion that we were very happy to have taken our children (ages 12 and 17) on to see what the real Dominican culture was like.
Response from supplier
Dear Customer, thank you for your very detailed review, it's such a nice description of the Tour.
This Tour in general it's the easiest way to discover the "Real Dominican republic" with all his contradictions between the luxury Hotel life and the real country outside.
In fact all the previous aspects of the Tour you mentioned before are the fundamental facts and culture of the Dominican republic rural areas life style.

My hubby and I had an amazing time on a full day excursion with Super Jeep Expedition. We got picked up at the resort at exactly the time given and were taken to a location where we were introduced to the tour operators and the couple we shared the Jeep with. It was fun from start to finish. My favorite part of the tour was definitely lunchtime because we got the opportunity to enjoy a delicious local cuisine which including rice and beans, chicken and other tasty dishes. The hosts were very friendly and the view from the restaurant is breathtaking. The horse back riding was an amazing experience and on the contrary, was not five minutes as other reviews have mentioned. The guides were wonderful and the photographer “Flacco” took beautiful pictures at such an affordable price. The experience at the chocolate factory deserves a mention as well since we got an opportunity to sample local coco and coffee which were all available for purchase, amongst other things. I’d definitely recommend the tour to anyone who wants to get out of the resort and see rural Punta Cana and for those who like to meet nice local people and to experience tour operators with positive attitude. It was certainly a day well spent. Thank you, Super Jeep Expedition!
