Best things to do in Curacao in 2025

This beach is know as Playa Grandi or Playa Piscado. It is probably the top beach to go snorkeling. You are almost certain to see sea turtles between 10 am and 4 pm when local fishermen sell their catch which draws the turtles and other sea creatures to the beach.

Blue Bay Beach near Willemstad offers a wide range of upscale restaurants and bars. You can rent beach chairs and umbrellas if you don't stay at the Blue Bay Beach Resort. You also need to pay entrance fee unless you stay at the resort or using the dive shop.

Located in Bandabou, west of Willemstad, is a popular beach with white sand and good scuba diving and snorkeling. There is an entrance fee to the beach and you need to pay for the beach chairs. However, bathroom and shower facilities are free of charge.

Playa Kalki is a small beach with limestone cliffs. While the beach itself has lots of coral underfoot and only a few chairs and umbrellas, it sits on a beautiful reef that offers excellent snorkeling and diving. Restaurants and bars are available.

Known as the party beach of Curacao, Mambo Beach also offers shopping, numerous restaurants and bars, and hosts the Seaquarium, dive shops and the Substation. Many boat excursions in Curacao depart from this location.

Jan Thiel, located East of Willemstad, is more like a European-style beach. It’s a long narrow beach with resorts immediately adjacent. Jan Thiel Beach offers an upscale environment and lovely restaurants. There is a large pool that fronts the ocean in front of the Papagayo Resort that all beachgoers can use.

Sint Joris Bay Beach is not a typical beach nor is it a typical tourist setting. However, if you love kiteboarding, want to learn, or want entertainment watching kiteboarders doing their tricks on the water, head to St. Joris Bay Beach. 

Klein Curacao is not a beach on the main island but a small island 15 miles off the southeast coast of Curacao. You can reach Klein Curacao in an organized day trip or chartering your own boat. It has the longest white sand beach and clearest water in Curacao.

Fort Amsterdam, a monument from the times of the Dutch colonization, is located in Willemstad and today serves as the seat of the government of Curaçao. Once it served as a military fort and the headquarters of the DWIC. It is also included in UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sights.

The Floating Market is one of the most hip sights of Punda. Wake up as early as 6:30 am if you’d like to browse around the fresh plantains, papayas, avocados and fish. Boats from Venezuela dock along Sha Caprileskade road every morning where you’ll find a colorful crowd of locals and tourists.

Connecting the two historic quarters, Punda and Otrobanda, this hinged bridge opens up regularly to enable the passage of vessels passing through. Walk across the bridge at night when it shines in all colors of the rainbow, creating a fun and vibrant atmosphere.

Stop by at the Old Market if you’d like a real taste of the traditional cuisine of Curaçao. This vast barn-like structure gives home to several local eateries where you can enjoy goat stew, pumpkin pancakes, cactus stew or a whole red snapper at the picnic tables. 

At the Curaçao Seaquarium you can explore marine life from a stationary semi-submarine with panoramic views of the Sea Aquarium lagoon. It’s a great opportunity for old and young to learn about the colorful marine species like camouflage species and sea horses.

Groot Davelaar used to be the refuge of Guzman Blanco, a revolutionary Venezuelan who later became president. The building is a great example of colonial architecture with a Renaissance twist. You can enjoy a great view of other colonial homes from the gallery surrounding the eight-sided hall.

The Ostrich Farm in Curaçao is one of the largest ostrich farms outside Africa where you can witness all life stages of these amazing birds from eggs through baby ostrich to fully-grown birds. You can take a safari around the farm and meet other inhabitants such as potbellied pigs, squirrel monkeys, emus, crocodiles and parrots.

Learn about the world-famous Blue Curaçao at Ladnhuis Chobolobo and visit the Curaçao Liqueur Distillery. They offer guided tours to tell you about the distillation process, the art and craftsmanship of liqueurs as well as free tasting of Curaçao Liqueurs.

The village of Sint Wilibrordus is located on the western part Curacao and is known for its iconic neo-gothic style St. Willibrod Church. Make sure to tell the world where you are by taking picture with the Williwood sign. The top attraction is the flamingo sanctuary.

Hato Caves is not only a natural gem but also a very important historical remain. It features several petroglyphs engraved by Amerindian people who used it for burial ceremonies. The cave is full of impressive stalactites, stalagmites and remnants of extinct animals.

Christoffel National Park is the largest national park of the island with a rich variety of flora and fauna and best chances to spot wildlife. Visit the park for wild orchids, the palabrua - a rare native barn owl -, and the Curaçao White Tailed deer and much more. There are several hiking trails leading up to the top of Christoffel mountain.

Another well-known sight of Shete Boka National Park is Boka Wandomi Natural Bridge. The water has carved a way for itself in the massive rock formations, creating a bridge-like formation.

Watamula blowhole is another interesting natural formation that reminds you of the true powers of nature. At the most Western point of the island, you can find a beautiful coral shore where the water gets trapped into a cavernous hole and shoots out like a geyser when the tides crash against the shore.

This giant ceiba tree is the main sight of National Park Hòfi Pastor and it’s estimated to be around 800 years old. There are two short (about 2 km) long trails in the park that take you to this nature-made national monument, both of them embellished with lush mango trees, butterflies, iguanas and a few donkeys.

Situated on the Western coast of Curaçao, a short boat ride away from Playa Santa Cruz, the Blue Room is a must-see attraction for divers, snorkelers, and those who enjoy going off the beaten path. The cave got its name from its blue illumination that is truly out of this world.
