Description

Join us on the only horseback riding excursion of Sint Maarten and discover the island's beautiful nature on a horseback with our experienced guides at Lucky Stables St. Maarten.

Our stable is located in Cay Bay, 5 minutes away from Simpson Bay and 15 minutes away from the cruise ship terminal. Upon arrival to our farm, we will give you a short safety briefing, gear you up and introduce you to your horse.

We will ride the horses at the Seaside Nature Park up beautiful winding trails to a splendid lookout point overlooking the Caribbean Sea which sets the perfect scene for your tropical vacation. Do not forget your bathing suit, the highlight of the excursion is riding into the calm, crystal clear waters of the bay for a swim with your horse!

The horses are born and bred at Seaside Nature Park, we know them right from the moment they are born. Starting the stables many years ago, Roderick is well known for his eye for horses. He calls his line of horses “Antillianos”, a local horse, mixed from the Spanish, the South-American Paso and English thoroughbred influences that came to the island later. These horses are happy horses and they love what they are doing. If not working, all the horses roam the park freely at daytime.

This was a fun excursion that was not ship-sponsored but was well organized and operated. Not only did we get to see the native vegetation and undisturbed island flora, but the views of the water and ocean were fabulous. Guiding the horses onto the small beach and into the water was icing on the cake. There were only 5 of us on the first trail ride of the day at 8:30 AM. Getting a taxi to the park, from the cruise port was no problem but with traffic on the narrow roads that time of day allow for a half hour and definitely arrange for a pick up about 2 hours later since the Park is off the regular tourist route. Don't let the oil storage tanks worry you as you approach the Park: for the most part they are out of sight during the ride. The price was reasonable for the experience, and our guide, Danny, was knowledgeable and considerate of varying riding skills. Definitely more fun than watching jets land over your head at the beach!

I am so happy that we were able to enjoy this excursion on our last day in Sint Maarten. The young ladies at the front desk could be a little more friendly, hospitable and provide more pleasant customer service than we received, but ultimately that didn't taint the experience. Our guide, Edwin, was absolutely great! I honestly was terrified as I had never ridden a horse and on top of it we went high up along the cliffs, but through it all I felt that my daughter and I were in great hands. We walked to the location from our Airbnb which was about a 15 minute walk, and it seems a bit odd that you have to walk/drive through the power plant area, but it is beautiful grounds once you make it to the seaside park! I am so happy that I searched the night before and was able to find a booking. Also, the professional photographer is worth the $40 as she took some wonderful photos.

The horseback ride was beautiful and the views were picturesque! The taxi ride out to the stables was much higher than expected..about 48.00 for family of four. They provided water or punch for everyone. They have a smalll bar with other beverages for sale. A great experience.

Thank you for your review. Hope to see you again.

This was my 2nd opportunity to ride here. I gave it 5 stars 4 or 5 years ago, and I'd increase it this time. Our Guide was Remy, and I rode Indy and my 13 year old son rode Duende. Remy was a treasure grove of information about life on the island. His love of life itself was infectious, and he truly is a horseman of epic proportions! We are heading up a rocky incline, and without warning he was suddenly standing on the saddle and riding. Next thing we knew he was doing a headstand while riding the horse! This was NOT for just an instant, understand. His attitude and inspirational stories were a combination of informative and heartfelt. Would love to go with him with my family for a day and just learn....and try some of his Grandma"s chicken soup!!! Thank you, Remy and Amber- you were all wonderful hosts for a fabulous hour we went forget!

The session was about 1 hour, everything was organized for total beginners so if you never ever rode a horse - you can do it. I rode before and it was very easy for me but if you want to gallop along the beach that won't happen :)

The horses absolutely know what to do and Maurice our guide was amazing, he knows the horses very well and he is very knowledgeable about the island as well. The hike is very beautiful and actually a little rugged so sometimes you almost feel like you're gonna fall off the cliff! But horses know their job.

Two minor things I didn't like: the power plant that's right next to the site. But you are only passing it once before you go in the water with the horse so it doesn't spoil the view that much.
The other thing was the professional photographer - she charged 60 dollars for the CD with pictures! They weren't even as good. Just hang your phone on your neck in some sort of easy-to-remove baggie and youcan tke your own pictures (it's a little tricky while you're riding a horse but possible :)
You do go in the water with the horse but only for a few minutes and you only get wet up to the knees. so if you're able to keep your camera above your knees you''ll be fine :) the experience of seeing horses in the water is unforgettable!

My husband and I visited for a horseback ride into the ocean. We waited a fair amount of time to start the ride, but once we did it was worth the wait . Our guide, Christel, also tends to the small animal farm. She was incredible! We loved her so much that we brought our boys back the next day to see the farm. Christel showed our boys (ages 3, 5, and 6) all around the farm. They got to hold turtles, a rooster, pigs, and chickens. They fed the ducks. The highlight was the pony ride. This place has an amazing staff! Everyone was friendly and outgoing! We just can't say enough good things about this place!

Darrell was our guide. He told us the history of the Island and did it with his own special brand of humor. The horses were well trained and very well taken care of... The highpoint was the end of the ride where we went into the water up to our waists...Will definitely ride ther again on next visit...

Had 2 occasions to visit the park this year. Once for a fundraiser and once for a horse riding. The grounds are stunning and fully recovered from the hurricanes. Now that the riding ring is back it all looks very professional and well taken care of. The staff is friendly and attentive and the horses are very friendly. There are animals everywhere which really makes you feel in a different place for the day. The patio provides nice and welcome shade as it can get very hot in the park. Most rides take place in the morning, which is recommended.

So who thinks of going to the Caribbean on a cruise and go horseback riding when you have 37 square mile of Island and 37 bays? We did..and what an amazing experience it was. Madonna, Angelina, Prince and Viva took us on a mountain tour under the professional yet fun guidance of Edwin. The horses are amazing, disciplined and responsive. The horses, after our mountain ride, loved going in the ocean. They showed their teeth and moaned of pleasure and were in with their entire body with us on their backs. This was so much fun. The staff was super nice. They have evening champagne tours from 5 - 7 PM every night as we were told. We had a one hour tour in mid day and that was great, because it does get hot. Unforgettable experience.

As a life long horse lover, I naturally looked forward to a ride along the electric blue, tropical waters while visiting Saint Marteen. The staff was warm, welcoming, and professional, ensuring our safety and fun. It was clear that the owners and staff are able to accomodate all levels of riders, including 1st timers! My husband and I arrived a little bit early and were able to see a guide, dubbed "the supervisor" schooling a younger horse in the water. I have so much respect for the way these horses are cared for, trained and had one of the best rides of my life. Our guide, Darryl also told us more about the geography and history. of the island. Horseback riding in Saint Marteen is a MUST, whether it is your first time on a horse, or your 100th. Visit Seaside Nature Park!

This experience was great for the entire family! It was the first time on horseback for all of us, but our guide was so patient and knowledgeable that we were quickly at ease and felt like pros (well almost). We rode mountain trails and had waded in the Caribbean Sea with our named horses. They loved it and we did too!

Had a fantastic time going up and down the rocky breathtaking trails. Went with 4 friends but got stuck with 8 of us. The guides were phenomenal but would be happier in a group of 4. Too many horses bunching up together . Would've liked more water time. But I will be going back in October.
