Description
Visit the restored Emilio Wilson plantation house where you will find the Soualige Sy Explorer chairlift entrance and a museum. Your adventure begins in this restored plantation house originally built in the 1700s. The Museum tells the powerful story Trace Wilson who was born into slavery on the property in 1818 and her direct descendant Emilio Wilson. Guests will read depictions of what life was like on a plantation and learn about the customs, traditions, lifestyle and stories that earned Sint Maarten the nickname ‘The Friendly Island.’
You will then proceed to the Soualiga Sky Explorer chairlifts, comprised of sixty-eight, four-passenger chairs, that takes a tranquil ride up two lifts spanning a total of 2,997 ft. as the landscape unfolds below. A spectacular panoramic view on top of one of St. Maarten’s highest mountains awaits you.
Sentry Hill is one of St. Maarten’s highest elevation at 1,125 feet. Walkways and platforms encircle the mountaintop showcasing 360 degrees including vistas of neighboring islands Saba, St. Barts, St. Eustatius and Anguilla and in clear weather, even St. Kitts and Nevis as well.
Enjoy the spectacular view at your own pace then visit Emilio's restaurant at the base. Seating is nestled among authentic antique colonial walls of the Old Barn and offers a menu of classic favorites with a new twist. Drinks and meals are not included in your package.
Round trip transfer for cruise ship guests: Enjoy a convenient bus ride between the Philipsburg cruise ship terminal and Rockland Estate by our private shuttle. The bus departs at 10:30 am from the cruise terminal and returns at 2:30 pm. The transfer is only available to cruise ship guests.

The sky ride cable car was excellent with some superb views whilst travelling up and down and at the summit, and the museum was extremely informative, however the tour company driver gave us absolutely no information about the area or the Rockland Estate itself and then dropped us off at the entrance and disappeared. No introduction as to what was the form other than how to ascertain what time the return shuttle would take us back to the ship, and nothing about the fact the pickup point was some way along from the drop off point.March 03, 2019
No one offered information about what order to do things in, where to queue for the skyride or whether to visit the museum first.
Sky ride and views well worthwhile but exceptionally disappointing handling by the St Maarten tour company.

This was booked by us on our 12 day cruise with Royal Caribbean and was not offered as an excursion on Royal Caribbean website but should be as it was the best excursion of our holiday and much better then the 4 other excursions that we booked direct with Royal Caribbean. They should definitely add it to there list of excursions available on there website.February 18, 2019

I had friends that wanted to zip line, but I just rode the ski lift up (and down!). Beautiful view from the top. If that isn’t for you, you can just hang out at the bar while others go up.February 11, 2019

Seven of us on Saturday took the chair lift to the overlook platforms. Just stunning and amazing views in all directions. Cannot recommend this highly enough! Not to be missed! February 04, 2019
Must be able to climb stairs! There is a bar at the top where the big zip line launches from. You have to get to that point to catch the chair lift back down anyway!
