Description

The tour starts with a pick up at your hotel in the Punta Cana, Bavaro, Uvero Alto area. We will first drive through small countryside villages and rural communities, which will give you the first insights of the adventurous day you have ahead of you. Friendly Dominicans will smile and wave at you as we pass by local schools and villages.

Enjoy free flowing purified water, soft drinks, rum and beer all day long. Your fun and professional multilingual speaking guide will explain the history and culture, plants, animals and the way that Dominicans have lived for hundreds of years. We will drive you deep into the countryside, up the luscious green mountain of Palo Amargo to our private ranch.

Enjoy a family-style Dominican lunch at an incredible countryside ranch and walk through a fruit plantation to see fruit growing in its natural environment; you’ll get to taste fresh fruit and sugarcane, see native animals like crocodiles, iguanas, turtles and much more.

Shop at a local rum shack with local products like rum, cigars, coffee and a lot more – all for local prices! Meet local artisans and learn about the process of tobacco rolling and rum making including sampling. Than you have the chance to visit a typical Dominican home, meet the family that lives there and enjoy a drink of freshly made coffee with them. See coffee and chocolate growing on trees as you walk through a cocoa plantation.

Relax, swim, cool off in the refreshing waters of the Anamuya River, or float on one of the tubes available with a cocktail in your hand enjoying the real Dominican style at easy afternoon experience.

    Amazing & cultural trip!
My boyfriend and I booked this trip not knowing much about the trip other than knowing we would be visiting the countryside of the Dominican Republic. I can safely say it was the most amazing trip with our lovely and well educated tour guide ‘Angel’ and our driver ‘Leonardo’ who served us unlimited rum and coke throughout the day trip. There was various other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options also. The trip began with visiting a Dominican family’s home where they showed us how they cut open coconuts and how they get the juice/milk from it which I found really interesting. We then had a couple of other stop offs where we found out about the plantation of cocoa powder and coffee (with the option to purchase) and also seen how cigars were made. We also got the opportunity to do lots of tasters throughout the day such as the cigars, mama juana (typical Dominican drink), pineapple wine and much more! We ended the trip with a dunk in a lazy river with rubber rings- lovely and refreshing! Fully recommend to anyone who would love to find out more about this country and what products they provide!

    Informative fun tour
Thoroughly enjoyed this day as we went through the Dominican being given information on towns and their way of life, we stopped by coffee plantations, cocoa farming and a coconut farm to sample the local goods and be explained the process behind it all.
We also went into a locals house and was explained how they live with the kitchen separate from the house.
Very informative day that at the time I wasnt too bothered about, but I'm glad I did this more informative then other talks I've been given on coffee and cocoa since we have been there.
    One not to miss.
The location for lunch was also very informative and the cigar process is explained in loads of detail too, lunch had beautiful scenery and there was no hard sales here.
Leandro the guide was excellent, as was Ramon the driver often stopping to answer questions and hand out more drinks!
Theres an opportunity to purchase merchandise to support a local school and you are given a free flask to take home!

    Outback & Beyond
Just come back from a great day with our guide Daddy Eddy and driver Uncle Leo. The say started by being picked up in THE truck. A lot was packed into one day - visiting a school, a coconut oil factory, a typical DR house, a coffee and cocoa factory, walk amongst a cocoa plantation as well as see how cigars are made. When I say factory, I don’t mean the kind with machines and lots of workers. The day was all inclusive and ’Daddy’ & Uncle Leo made sure our cups were never empty - you should try the Santo Libre! Eddy was very entertaining whilst imparting his knowledge and passion for his country. Lunch was a typical Dominican lunch which was very nice, with stunning views that reminded me of a scene from Jurassic Park. The day was rounded off nicely with a relaxing and refreshing dip in a river. Top tips: take water shoes for the river and there’s plenty of organic produce to buy directly from the producers.

    Great fun.
Our day trip out in Dominican was great fun. We boarded a small bus. Our driver and drinks man Leo and our tour guide angel were fantastic. U could drink plenty of alcohol or none your choice. We saw real Dominican life from a school to inside a house. How the children grew up to do the job parents had taught them. From cigar making to art work to pot making from stone. We stopped for a traditional lunch all cooked and served by a family where the view was stunning. On the way back we went in the river which was amazing so clear u could c the bottom. A great fun day out.

Exceptional day out and reasonably priced
Excellent day out seeing the cultural part of the Dominican Republic. Our guide George was very funny and knowledgeable about all areas of the tour, as well as amusing the families with his jokes, while Pappy our driver kept us safe all day. We visited a school (iunfortunately closed on the day!), a family who made coconut oil, a family who made coffee and chocolate, watched cigars being made, tasted various rums and had a great lunch of fried chicken, salad and pasta.
We were given a reusable mug which we were able to keep at the end of the day, and George and Pappy made sure that it was filled with the drink of our choice all day. (Rum/beer/coke/sprite/water)
After all our visits to local families we finished the day with a swim in a natural pool, very stoney to get in and out(take water shoes as it will make entering and exiting a lot easier!)
Would recommend to anyone who wants something a little different and wants to meet local families who are all very welcoming.
Outback Adventures is striving to reduce their use of plastic by 100% and also sponsors various chariities including schools and orphanages. There was plenty of opportunities to buy souvenirs, but we never felt obliged to buy.
Overall a great day out and by far the best value for money.

Great way to see the area.
My sister and I booked this tour from our cruise. The tour guide, Manny, was informative and funny. We went way out in the country. Enjoyed seeing the school. The ranch was amazing. So much variety of fruits. Coffee beans and cocoa. The family was hospitable. Lunch was good. Enjoyed the beach. And of course the rum and beer. Manny kept it pouring. Danny, our driver, got us there and back safely. Worth the money.

We had an amazing excursion with Outback Adventures. Our tour guide, Angel, was so knowledgeable and passionate as he told us the history of DR. You could sense he was speaking from his heart.

An amazing, informative, wonderful peek into Dominican life and culture!
First————I would like to say that if any of you are scared to come to the Dominican Republic because of the sensationalism and over hyping of the few partially truthful reports of a few tourist problems, DON’T BE! We have been to this country for five days now and we will definitely be coming back again and again and again!

I searched TripAdvisor for a tour to get a view of the countryside and how people live here. I made a great choice in picking this tour.

I am here with my wife, my mother, and my wife’s sister. We are in our 60’s and above. My wife’s sister uses a cane, while I have very arthritic knees and back. We all had no problem doing the tour. I did try and sit where I could. No problem!

The places they took us were all as described and very interesting ! I had researched this tour and knew that we would stop at a small local school. I also saw how they really liked donations. My wife bought them school supplies from home that we bought on clearance and they were very appreciative! She told me today that when we return to the Dominican Republic that we ARE going to do the exact same tour again in order to bring more supplies to the school! They very much know the importance of educating their children.

Our tour guide , Angel, and our driver, Leonardo were both great! Our guide Angel was probably the most personable, knowledgeable, friendly guide that we have ever had! He was GREAT in every way! The 4 of us all tipped both of them very well. My wife, her sister, and I own a restaurant and very well understand what it is like to depend on tips for part of your income! Because of the horrible sensationalism of the lame-stream media in the US, tourism is way down here. Therefore less work for people at every hotel, every restaurant, every tour group, etc, etc, etc! Angel was so great in taking care of us and gave me a great big hug at the end of the tour for us taking very good care of him.

I hope everyone reading this will decide to come to the Dominican Republic! The country does not deserve in any way what has happened to their tourism industry!

We will be back again and again. A further review on our hotel, Secrets Cap Cana, will follow after we return home. (Also wonderful)

The stop at the local school was very educational for us
Outback adventure is definitely worth it! Jesus was a wonderful guide. He answered questions and gave us so much information regarding the villages, stores and school. The experience was comprehensive and we were offered drinks constantly (we didn't drink alcohol but I never felt dehydrated and it was hot). The one down side was that we were transported in an SUV and not the big transport, but we had air conditioning and so I was not overly disappointed.

    Amazing
Me and my partner went on the Outback and beyond excursion yesterday. Our tour guide was Angel and our driver was Cesir, both of whom were lovely and welcoming. Angel was very knowledgeable and I loved listening to his stories about life in the Dominican republic.

The tour was incredible. It was amazing to see what life is really like outside of the luxury hotels for local people. We learnt about the hard work of the people who make coconut oil, coffee, chocolate and cigars, and got to go inside a typical Dominican home. The family who own the home were very welcoming. We then visited a beautiful and relaxing river.

We were offered refreshments all day, and stopped for a meal which was amazing.

My trip to Punta Cana would not have been half as special if I didn't go on this excursion. Thank you Angel and Cesir.
