Description

Imagine a unique sailing adventure in which you glide along Aruba’s beautiful coastline. The warm, clear, blue water of the Caribbean, paired with hundreds of species of tropical fish and coral, will be a feast for your eyes. If this sounds too good to be true, it’s not. What a way to start the day! This smooth-riding Octopus trimaran trip is a real find. Our 41 foot trimaran sailing yacht accommodates 45 people but we cut off our bookings at 36 in order to avoid mass tourism!

Meet us in our office on Palm Beach at 8:30 am and check-in for your catamaran tour. After you are on board, your day begins with a breakfast of freshly baked goodies, juice, and sparkling mimosas. You will sail to two of Aruba’s best snorkel stops with your experienced captain and crew. You will enjoy the freedom of sailing and discover the thrill of Aruba’s constant and soothing trade winds as you sail along the scenic coast.

Your first location is the famous wreck, “Antilla”, where you’ll spend about 45 minutes exploring. The Antilla, which sank more than 60 years ago, remains completely intact and is widely regarded as one of the best sunken shipwrecks in the caribbean. In the crystal clear water, she is an awesome sight to behold. Antilla, a popular shipwreck just off Aruba’s shores. Legend has it this 1939 German freighter likely carried supplies during WWII and was caught in Dutch waters following Germany’s invasion of Holland. The captain ordered the crew to open the valves and abandon ship rather than risk the ship falling into enemy hands. Explore the 400 foot Antilla along with a variety of colorful sea life including yellowtail snapper, green morays and southern stingrays. Keep an eye out for the possibility of a glimpse of a curious barracuda.

Reserve an underwater scooter for power snorkeling! Power snorkeling is snorkeling done with the aid of powered propeller device that carries you through the water up to 5 times faster than swimming alone. They are powered by a Lithium-Ion battery and are very easy to operate. As an added bonus, you also look pretty cool zooming through the water. Yup with these beauties, James Bond and Jacques Cousteau have nothing on you!

The next stop is in shallow waters of Catalina Bay you will brush up on your snorkeling skills as you spot angel fish, damsel fish and more swimming around sea fans and coral. Put on your snorkeling gear and descend under the crystal-clear turquoise waters and immediately find yourself transported into an underwater paradise. New to snorkeling? Not a problem! Your experienced captain and first mate will patiently work with you to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable experience.

After all that snorkeling, you’ll no doubt have worked up quite an appetite. We provide a delicious lunch features a fresh crusty French bread, topped with salad, cheese or meat and delicious tropical fruits…not to mention the open cocktail bar. A variety of drinks, from rum to whiskey, soda to iced tea, and more are available to satisfy your thirst. Your captain and crew will see to it that you have a wonderful day in Aruba.

Staff was very nice and attentive but if we’re talking about getting your money’s worth I would give this a 1 star. Their definition of brunch is a slice of sweet bread, their lunch is a nasty flavorless sandwich, and “snack” are a couple of fruits pieces. Their open bar is not really an open bar. You get drinks whenever they pass by to offer.
    Response from supplier
Thank you for your review Jessica!

We are sorry to hear that this was your experience with Octopus Aruba. We aim to make 2-3 rounds of our breakfast pound cake and banana bread where guests are more than able to take more than one slice.
We buy all of our ingredients for the lunch fresh from a local bakery and we make this as healthy as possible for our guests! We do apologize if it was not your cup of tea. Our snacks are fresh fruit cut fresh in the morning before the trip, again this is to be passed around and our guests can take as many as they would like :)

For our open bar our guests are more than welcome to ask our staff if they would like a refill or any drink that we provide.
We have taken all of your points into consideration and greatly appreciate your honesty and point of view.
We hope that we can welcome you on the Octopus again in the near future! :)

My wife and I opted for the morning champagne brunch with snorkelling at the boat wreck and the reef. The trip cost us $140 for around 3 hours with an on board bar and brunch (sandwich, cake and champagne) which were all lovely. The captain and his mate were really friendly and informative and they were both really focused on the safety of passengers (which is good to see). The shipwreck was absolutely fascinating and there were loads of fish plus we got to see a sea turtle swimming by which was a massive bonus!!! :-) Afterwards we went on to a shallow cove with crystal clear water and snorkelled for about 45 minutes and had our sandwich more champagne and some rum. There is a toilet on board plus snorkels, flippers, and floats are provided. We highly recommend this tour for fun, refreshment, the sea life and also for safety. 5 out of 5 from me.

What an amazing crew! So friendly and knowledgeable and fun! Food is on point and so are the drinks! The boat is well maintained and perfect for couples or group outings. Best booze cruise food ever had. Snorkeling was great and you were not rushed allowing you to go at your own pace. Highly recommend!

We loved everything about this excursion! The drinks and snacks were great and the service could not have been better! We do a catamaran snorkel cruise every time we are here (and anywhere else we go that they are available) and this was our favorite thus far. We will certainly be back for another Octopus tour-wouldn’t go with anyone else!

A wonderful morning at sea! Our crew was amazing and it was such an amazing boat. There are so many “party boats” on the water with too many drunks, too much “woo woo- factor”, and too loud a music. We were fortunate to have only 7 of us on the boat and the captain and owner still took us to sea which is sometimes unthinkable. Even if the boat was fully occupied with 30-35 people, the boat was laid out with the nicest, comfortable seating, I have seen on such a craft. No one would have a bad or uncomfortable seat. It is a class operation with an attentive owner (on the boat!) and friendly, knowledgeable captain. We had nice cocktails and light nosh before and after a couple of snorkels and were back to the pool by 1.
Take a trip with them and leave the loud party boats behind.

A little bit of rain to start our cruise - torrential some might describe it, however it did not dampen our spirits. The crew were fabulous, helpful, attentive and fun. The short stop at the wreck for snorkelling was a lovely experience and the shallower slightly less choppy 2nd stop better for fish and octopus to see. The boat is comfortable and spotlessly clean, the drinks flowed and the food was better than expected. A definite ‘must do’during a visit to Aruba. Very chilled, not expensive and given the small number of people onboard a very pleasant way to spend a morning. Thank you guys.

We had a very nice time with the guys from Octopus. We were able to reserve online with a partial payment and then settled up the rest later on. The crew were very professional, yet fun and attentive. The water was a little choppy at the shipwreck and it didn't help that I couldn't get the snorkeling breathing right in my head. They were very nice about it. At the second site I had a whole lot of FUN. I would recommend the Power Scooter to people who don't swim well/often or get a little phobic in depths beyond swimming pool levels. Once I learned to breathe (and relax), the power scooter let me zip around to see schools of fish, coral and have a GREAT time. The scooter was an add-on; but it was money well spent, in my book. They also had open bar drinks for us going and coming along with a cake and a sandwich. It was just the right amount of food given that we were on a boat/in salt water

The octopus catamaran and her captain and crew was amazing!! The crew was so knowledgeable, friendly and personable. The shipwreck was amazing and the coral reef cove had so many amazing fish and sea life. The crew was incredibly attentive ... waiting on us with mimosas, fresh fruit, sandwiches and afternoon drinks. I would highly recommend this tour above all the others!!

Our group of 5 took this trip on Nov. 6, 2018 and had an amazing time. This is a more intimate catamaran and there only about 7 others on the trip so it was very relaxing. The crew is great, fun, funny and great to converse with. I really can't imagine a better way to start the day in Aruba than with yummy drinks, the beautiful sea and snorkeling. This was my first time snorkeling and I am now obsessed - doesn't hurt when your first snorkel is sunk WWII ship.

We arrived in Aruba on the Carnival Vista and caught a taxi to the hotel where the Octopus is located. I think the cab ride was $16 total. The boat, crew and trip were all fantastic! Spent some time at a shipwreck but the water was choppy and we moved on quickly to a calm cove where we could enjoy the water and sea life. All this time the crew was friendly giving us tips on where the best viewing was, pouring mimosas, feeding us snacks and lunch, then drinks on the way back. This beat any cruise line excursion hands down!! As a bonus the beach (Palm Beach) where the Octopus is location is gorgeous! We spend and extra hour or two lounging on the beach!

We booked this trip as we wanted a quieter experience than the pirate type boats. This was perfect for our family and there were only 16 people on our excursion. Brunch is mimosas and delicious banana bread or pound cake. Then you are at your first snorkeling destination - The Antilla ship wreck. This one was tough for most people - the water was quite rough and most jumped in and swam around a bit and got right back on board. The second stop was easier as it was close to shore - beautiful marine life everywhere and most people stayed in the water until they had to get out! Lunch was a tasty sandwich and open bar. Then we set sail to return back to shore. Captain Jethro and his crew were excellent - these guys know the waters and Aruba and keep you safe while entertaining you. They are fun and engaging. We loved our excursion and highly recommend this trip!!

We booked the catamaran snorkelling trip as part of our honeymoon – specifically the champagne brunch. We loved the trip! It was a quiet morning, with only 8 of us (plus the captain and one other staff member) on the boat. We sailed out to the Antillas, then into shore and snorkelled at both spots. The wreck is incredible to see from the water, and the range of fish in the shallower section of the bay is fascinating! The staff on the boat were brilliant. Very knowledgeable about the history of Aruba, but also great guys to chat to as well. They looked after us well, keeping our drinks topped up (despite the early hour!) and serving plenty of food. Really good value for money as you get a full morning on the boat, plenty to eat and drink, and see some great parts of Aruba.

Crew consisted of two people who definitely had it going on! Our cruise consisted of 16 people which was perfect! Our morning started out with mimosas and a choice of banana or a cinnamon bread which was excellent. We then snorkeled at the ship wreck which the waves are fairly strong but no worries as you have a life jacket to help you maneuver. On to another amazing spot from that point which was crystal clear and you share the adventure with the most beautiful fish and sea creatures. Lunch was excellent and everyone enjoyed. I highly recommend this trip as it was one of my favorite excursions of the week!

Prompt start at 8:45 am at the Pelican Pier meeting spot, then a quick ride to the Octopus Trimaran for 9 am departure. Captain Jethro and crew welcomed us onto his clean boat and began serving mimosas with banana bread and pound cake. With only 16 other passengers we all had plenty of room and were very comfortable.

First stop was at the Antilla Ship Wreck, we could see two Jolly Pirate boats visiting the same spot and those ships were packed, collectively we were all so glad we pick Octopus. (Note: for us it was a rough morning, so only advanced swimmers could make it to the wreck). Second stop was much closer to the shore about 10-15 feet deep. The water was much calmer and we could see all sorts of sea life.

After snorkeling, we enjoyed a lite meal of turkey/cheese/cucumber/tomato sub sandwiches with fruit and plenty of drinks (both alcohol and non) on a leisure sail back to the pier. Overall great morning at sea.

Great morning spent with Octopus doing snorkeling. After a quick transfer from the beach via a small boat, we boarded the large and clean trimaran sailboat. They only book up to 24 passengers per cruise (we ended up with 13 on ours) so it is a much more personal and laid back experience. Mimosas and banana bread started off the day (plenty of non-alcoholic beverages available too). We arrived at the Antilla wreck and snorkeled there for a while (warning- it can be rough there and it was the day we took the trip). While at the Antilla, two Jolly Pirate boats showed up packed to the gills. Everyone in our party was glad we chose Octopus instead of being jammed on one of the pirate boats.

The second stop was closer the shore near Boca Catalina beach. Much calmer and plenty of fish and star fish to see. After snorkeling, we had a lite lunch of turkey and Gouda on fresh bread, plus fresh fruit. A couple of rum punches during the sail back topped off a great morning on the water.

My family of three went on the Champagne Snorkel cruise. We picked this company because the guides are well known and respected on the island. If you are looking for a personal experience away from the crowded cruise crowd this is the trip for you. We snorkeled the ship wreck (lots of fish) then a more shallow water snorkel at Boca Catalina, where we saw several eels!
