Your tour begins with a pick up at your hotel in Punta Cana, Bavaro and Uvero Alto to take you on a journey to discover the Dominican heritage.
Nothing defines Dominican culture better than baseball. You will learn about the country's legendary players on our visit to the Francisco A. Micheli Stadium, home to the Toros del Este.
You will visit a cigar factory where the cigar master will demonstrate how to roll the perfect cigar. You will see Dominican tobacco which is used to roll the finest cigars in the world, including Montecristo and Romeo and Juliet.
The tour will take us to an artisan village where we will experience the bohemian lifestyle. Learn about how La Romana flourished and the prosperity Altos de Chavon enjoys. Walk through its tropical gardens, visit the Roman-style amphitheater and examine archaeological findings left by the Taino indians. Altos de Chavon is also a perfect place to purchase local handcrafted souvenirs.
We will board a riverboat and sail down the Chavon River through lush tropical rainforest. You will be served a delicious lobster lunch with wine along the way while merengue music plays in the background.
Our last stop is at the Higuey Basilica where Dominicans come to worship their Patron Saint, the Virgin of Altagracia. It is one of the most important spiritual retreat in the Dominican Republic.
