The guided jungle hiking tour is available either in the morning or in the afternoon. The tours starts with a pick up at your hotel in Punta Cana, Bavaro, Cap Cana or Uvero Alto between 8:30 and 9:00 am or 1:30 and 2:00 pm. Exact pick up time will be advised after reservation. You will then drive in an air-conditioned van to the starting location of your hike in the Anamuya mountain range.

I was picked up in front of my hotel on time, actually a few minutes early. We drove into the mountains to an area called Vista Alegre (Happy View). We stopped at a small village where Jose went into a little calmado and bought us some bottled water. Then he explained that his partner (I'm sorry I can't remember his name) would lead me on the hike, then meet back with Jose on the other side.
The hike was not too hard. Some steep uphill climbs, stream crossings, and great views. My guide was a quiet guy, but very friendly and very knowledgable about the local flora and fauna. He truely enjoys hiking. The hike itself lasted about an hour or more which was good enough for me.
Jose met us on the other side with some sweet bread to snack on. Delicioso! The we drove to a site where we took a couple pictures of a jungle river near Anamuya. Then to the Outback Ranch to do a little sightseeing.
I give this tour 5 stars not just for the hike, but for my two great guides. Thanks guys! You were excellente!
