Our Perfume 101 class is a more fulfilling experience where you leave with a better understanding of the history of perfume and its creation. We are located on the French side of St. Martin, in Grand Case at 1 L'Esperance Road, close to Octopus Diving. It is at the very beginning of the main street “Boulevard de Grand Case”. If you are coming from the Grand Case Airport, drive all the way to the end of the road where it hits the beach. We are located at the end of the road on the right side.

This was the best experience ever! John and Mimi were extremely attentive and knowledgeable. You can feel like a total scientist while playing with all the different oils, pipettes and beakers trying to concoct your perfect scent. John was great at explaining the process and some interesting details about perfume and perfume making, the history etc. We didn't feel rushed at all. They gave us time and space to play and develop our own accord until we were happy with it, but lent a helping hand when needed. You get to name your own creation and its bottled with a label with your name, the name you pick for your creation and the date. Overall 10/10 experience. Would definitely recommend.December 25, 2018

The shop is small but very chic and filled with little treasures you won't likely find anywhere else. John and Mimi are fantastic hosts and the experience of being able to create your own perfume or cologne was very interesting and really a lot of fun. They lead you thru the process, explaining how fragrances have been created for many years enabling you to create something no one else will ever have.
While there were more women taking part than men, even the men participating found this to be really enjoyable as they searched to find just the right fragrant oils to mix together to create their cologne. You are then given a full sized bottle of your creation, complete with your selected unique name. They save your 'formula' and you can order more of your fragrance at a later date as well.
Besides the class and time spent creating a fragrance, we were given several items in a gift bag from the shop! Completely worth the price and the time spent. If you're looking for a very fun and unique experience while visiting St. Maarten/St. Martin, please go to Tijon and enjoy this unique experience! you will love, love, love it!

Short ride from port to their shop. Great mini presentation and then the process begins. You get to select from hundreds of scents and create your own, unique and special mix- then you get to take it with you after you name it!
Been back several times and brought others with us. The staff is amazing. Friendly. Knowledgeable and great.

I was fortunate enough to get to visit this lovely place during my visit this July. John, the owner, is such a warm soul and you have such a sense of possibility under his guidance. The class is so much fun and really gets you in touch with your creative side. The whole thing is so personal and very complete. It feels like an experience that should cost much more than it does. I love my fragrances (yes, I couldn't choose just one) and would kill to have this experience again, and if I return to the island (which I very much plan to) I will definitely make a repeat trip! I was very happy to be visiting this wonderful hidden gem of Grand Case once again. I will make sure it is always on my to do list whenever visiting St Maarten. I had been following the island's recovery process online and through John ( the owner) through his very informative quarterly newsletter to his customers. Creating new fragrances with his patience and guidance is a new experience every time! Along with several free gifts with the purchase of the class and your newly created fragrance, it is really affordable and a great value! I named my new fragrance "Recovery" in honor of the island's recovery efforts and progress. We took a taxi from the Dutch side of the island to Grand Case, and our driver Danny was happy to pick us back up after we finished our time at Tijon and had a late lunch at the Lolos down the street.
This is a not to be missed wonderful experience when visiting St Maarten/Martin via cruise ship or if you are a weekly resort guest.You will not be disappointed. Call ahead if you are not sure of availability for the size of your group. John and his wife Cyndi are very welcoming and look forward to seeing both new and previous customers.

My husband and some couple friends of ours just returned from a trip to St. Martin together and our perfume class at Tijon was one of the most amazing experiences we had on this fantastic island. We learned a lot and got to spend a fun afternoon sniffing and mixing all kinds of ingredients together to create fabulous perfumes. You get three different beakers to create three different scents. You then pick your favorite and it gets bottled up with a beautiful professional-looking label with the name of your choosing. I ended up creating two scents that I really liked, so I ended up buying another bottle. John keeps your formulas on file so that if you run out or want to order a specialty lotion in your scent it's all entirely possible! Can't recommend this enough!August 14, 2018

Of course I liked each of the store-bought fragrances I have when they are freshly applied, but they all fail to please me some hours later. I learned about how different fragrances disappear over time. At Tijon, I chose each "layer" of my fragrance, so it never reaches a stage that I do not like!June 17, 2018
Though we did not try to do it, I notice that the fragrance I made and the one that my wife made go together beautifully! Nice, huh?
My nose was not working well the day we were in St Maarten, so I had difficulty really detecting some of the fragrance choices. But I figured that if I like something under those conditions, then I must really like it, so I just worked my way along. And it all came together. Mili was so helpful and her assistant (I am sorry I forgot her name) worked "behind the scenes" making the tour seamlessly flawless.
Their method makes so much sense: they had me make three different combinations, then try each of them on. The one I liked best in the beaker did not last when it was on me, and the one that seemed least interesting in the beaker was the one that stood out when I wore it (and is the one I finished into my fragrance).
We were on a cruise ship. The ride from the cruise ship took about 20 to 30 minutes. The time at Tijon was about 90 minutes. So the entire tours was about 3 hours for us. The whole time was great.
The samples and gifts included along with the 1.85 fluid ounce fragrance I brought home made the entire tour a very good value, in my opinion.
All in all, I feel that 5 stars is not enough for this experience. So just imagine that I gave it six stars, OK?

My third time to St Martin but my first time to take the perfume class. I had stopped in on a cruise excursion years before and knew I wanted to come back for the class. My two friends and I were lucky to be the only three in the class. We were a bit late as traffic on the island is still slow as they rebuild after the hurricane. John greeted us at the door and jumped right into the teaching. He is an excellent, and patient, teacher. His knowledge of perfume and its origins is vast. His background as a chemist helps in the mixing of the oils. He taught us some essentials then let us explore the oils on our own and determine which we wanted to use to create our own unique scent. As we got close to thinking we had it done, he was able to offer suggestions of ways to slightly tweak what we had done so that it would be perfect in the end. I am so happy with mine. I will be back one day with my perfume crazy daughters!March 18, 2018

We have visited multiple times and made our own perfume during a couple visits. John makes it easy with step by step instructions and explains the process. I highly recommend this if you are visiting St Martin. Contact John early for reservations since they have limited number of seats. Sometimes when a cruise ship is in port, their perfume class fills up months in advance.
Hurricane Irma did a LOT of damage to the island. Thankfully Tijon Perfumery suffered very little damage is open again.

Owners John and Cyndi did a great job explaining the basics of oils, fragrances, and perfumes to me and then gave me space to explore the "fragrance organ" and experiment on my own. When I needed help, they were there to provide it, and John offered some valuable advice to make my final fragrance even better.
Tijon saves each client's fragrance "formula," so you can easily order more once you have run out. When I returned (smelling very good!) to Tijon the day after my class to ask for my fragrance in a body lotion, too, John whipped it up within minutes.
John and Cyndi are a lovely couple offering beautiful products, great service, and a fun experience on the island of Saint Martin. Why spend your time and money in the duty-free perfume shops when you can create your own unique fragrance at Tijon Parfumerie?

I did the 101 experience (the 22nd of January) and it was just amazing ! I was in a private class room and Mili was fantastic ! She was very patient, kind, helpfull and she is really passionate by parfumes ! It was such a great experience to creat my own parfum and to bring it back with me.
