Description

The fun starts as soon as you get picked up from your resort in Bavaro, Punta Cana or the Cap Cana cruise ship terminal between 7:45 and 9:15 am (see below for exact pick up time) Our entertaining guides will have you laughing as they tell you all about the incredible countryside you are travelling through. Learn about the culture, schools, entertainment and life in general from an insiders point of view.

Then it's time to introduce you to our fantastic Higueyano horses. After a brief history of the breed and some riding instructions we will get you settled on your horse to begin your journey.

Previous horseback riding experience is not necessary, the combination of our great horses and guides ensures your first time will be an easy and safe experience. We ride out through a small village and then down a beautiful mountain path where we make our way to a flat meadow. Here our more adventurous riders have the opportunity to gallop across the countryside while the others meander along a shorter route at a walk or a slow trot. We customize each and every ride to the level of experience for each of our riders.

Traveling further down the mountain path, the horseback riding tour will take you to the Anamuya River which we travel alongside and across several times. Those that want to get wet, can go deeper in the river when safe conditions are present and those that want the dryer route will take the higher path until we reach the bottom of our enchanting, secluded ranch.

After a great photo opportunity, those that want to continue their horseback riding experience can add on an exciting and fun cattle drive. Head ém up and move ém out as you help herd our cattle to an alternate pasture in the old fashioned way. It is a great team building opportunity as this requires everyone to work together or the cattle will soon outsmart you! Practice your cowboy hoot 'n holler as you wrangle the herd along the beautiful scenery not found in the Punta Cana resort areas. You don't need any riding experience for this adventure, we show you everything you need to know to experience this thrill of a lifetime. After one last gallop if you desire, you will dismount your horse at our beautiful riverside ranch.

After grabbing a complementary soda, water or fresh juice you can take a dip to cool off or stretch out on one of our hammocks. Then it is time to get your adrenaline pumping as you soar back across the river on our super safe and fun, double cable ACCT certified zip lines viewing the gorgeous scenery from a different perspective. Our professional guides will instruct you and assist you through every part of your zip line adventure. If you prefer, you can remain at the ranch and take photos of the others ziplining.

Take an eco-tour around our ranch and enjoy learning about the local plants and foods grown right at our farm! Enjoy a sampling of cocoa and learn how it is made into the chocolate we all love.

Once you've caught your breath we will mount up and begin our journey back. There's more time for some speed if you desire and plenty of more fun to experience.

We will dismount our horses at a beautiful oasis and discover the different scents and tastes of some of the finest tobacco in the world. Sample a cherry or chocolate cigar while they explain the methods in making the cigars. If you want to give it a try, they will assist you in rolling your own.

At the end of this fun filled day, hop back into the safari truck and travel back to your hotel or cruise ship terminal by 2:00 pm.

Best Excursion I have ever been on!!
Everything was top notch. The only complaints that I have are that they didn't give a bigger sample of the delicious cocoa they serve after the zip lining. I would highly recommend the cattle drive, it was a great time.

Ridin Cowboy!!
We had a great time on this excursion Jose was a great guide. The horses were great...not your typical guide horses. We are experienced riders and we enjoyed this ride. The cattle drive was fun! Not quite what I expected...there was only about 6-8 cows to round up. We enjoyed learning about making cigars and chocolate. Zip line was fun also!

Horse Riding and Zip Line tour
I would recommend this trip to anyone who would like a fun filled activity day. We were collected from our hotel at time agreed by our guide Jose and the fun started from that minute and didn't stop until we were dropped off again. So many experiences from making and rolling your own cigar, riding very well behaved horses by the river and through the river, lovely meal at the ranch and then straight on to The Zip Wire. Once finished on Zip Wire we were shown ho w cocoa is made and roasted the result and even had a drink of it, next the music was turned up and we all got involved in dancing before the ones in our party went off for a cattle drive..........what a great day? Thanks to all the lovely people involved in making this day one I would recommend to anyone!

beautiful scenery
I booked this trip for my wife, myself and my son and daughter. It was rainy but it worked out well as not a lot to do in Punta Cana in the rain. The cattle drive is a must if you like riding horses. The cigar shop was fun and got to roll one along with my son. The zipline was also fun. My only negative was the horses were a little lazy, but all in all we had a good time. I would recommend this.

Great adventure
We had a great time today at Horseplay. We are currently on our Honeymoon in Punta Cana. My husband really wanted to go horseback riding. So I found this through trip advisor and saw that it also included a zip line and cattle drive. The cattle drive was my husband's favorite part. For me this was my 1st time on a horse and have always been afraid. I had a great time and was thankful that the guides are always around on their horses to keep your horse in check. Mine liked to stop and eat a lot lol. We also really enjoyed learning how to roll Cigars. I would definitely recommend this activity to anyone visiting Punta Cana.

Great Day Out
We booked this before we travelled on holiday. We decided we only wanted to do one excursion whilst in the Dominican Republic, and booked it based on the reviews. Wow, we were not disappointed in the slightest. We had such a great day, starting with Jose' picking us up in the morning. Off we went in the truck to the cigar factory and being fully entertained by our host Jose'. We had a very warm welcome and was introduced to the art of cigar making, followed by a little look around the shop there. I must emphasise, we were not pushed into buying anything which made for a relaxing time. We then saddled up and had a ride through the countryside which included a small cattle drive and a slight gallop through a river. We then reached the mid point area and had a typical Dominican lunch followed by zip lining. This was great fun and they made us feel very safe whilst speeding through the tree tops. We then had a demonstration in chocolate making by grinding the cocoa beans. We finished off with a glass of and a Caribbean dance. We then saddled up for another ride to finish the day off. If you are looking for a great day out this is the must do one. Thank you Jose' for a great day, my wife also now calls me Buddha after you started it!

Zip line horseback riding and cattle drive best excursion
This is a must try! They start with Jose picking you up at your hotel in an open air bus. You will have a nice ride out to the bottom of the mountain. Have your camera ready. When you get to the ranch You start with a cigar rolling. You can roll one and they will give you a free one to smoke. There is also a small store there. I do have to say they are not pushy in any way. Then it is time to meet your horse. Just remember the horse name cause you will need to know this after lunch. You will take an hour ride into the country. You can even stop and take pictures just stay on your horse. When you reach the ranch you will be served lunch. Lunch is made by Jose's wife. I have to say it was very good. From there it is time to zip line. This has been improved from 2 years ago. Great view of the ranch. Not we are back at n the ground we get a small tour of some different plants that grow there. Jose made us some ground coco then they served us hot chocolatier much better then home. Let the music play. We did a little dancing, had some mama wama then it was time to get back on the horse. This is where you wanted to make sure you got the cattle drive upgrade. If not you ride back to the bus and wait for the cattle drive people. For the cattle drive we go out into the field where the cattle are all over the place. The ranch hands help us gather the cows together and we take them down to the river for a drink. Then we take them back to there place. Now it is time to head back to the bus. They will take you back to your hotel where you will want that shower, but oh so worth the trip. This was our second time and I have to say I will be back. Great time!

Horse Play Punta Cana
After being referred by my daughter who rode at Horse Play in Canada, we booked with Kathy and were not disappointed. The cigar shop was interesting, the horses were amazingly well tempered and the mountains were spectacular. Our traditional Dominican lunch was very tasty as was the Momajuana. The afternoon of five ziplines was thrilling and not too high, and was capped off back on our mounts for a great cattle drive back to our truck. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone.

Amazing!
This was nothing short of amazing. My boyfriend and I spent Valentine’s Day doing this, and it was easily one of the best days we’ve ever shared. The horseback ride after the cattle drive where you can see the mountains and you ride along a winding road was just beautiful. This is a day we will never forget. The people were so kind and funny, the scenery was gorgeous, and the food phenomenal. We learned a lot of the culture, and loved the experience of seeing the REAL Dominican...not just the touristy resorts. HIGHLY recommended. And we will certainly do it again next time we visit Punta Cana.

HIGHLY Recommend!!!
The Horseback and Zipline adventure was a great excursion for our family. We have two boys 17 and 19 and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We were picked up by Jose (an awesome host the whole day) in an open air bus for a 20 minute drive to the first stop- the cigar factory. There we were offered free samples and saw how cigars were made. We even got to roll our own. Then Nancy explained everything about the cigars they made and helped us select the kind we liked. I must admit the Rancho Real Churchill with Connecticut wrapper was very smooth and is every bit as good as my usual Arturo Fuentes or Macanudos. It was then time for the horseback riding when Jose and his great crew paired everyone with a horse suitable to our riding experience. The ride through the jungle and river was beautiful and those who wanted to gallop had a chance to do it several times. By the time we arrived at the point where we would have lunch and zipline, Jose had nicknames for almost all of us. He was very funny and he made it feel like we all had known him for a long time. The lunch was cooked by Jose's wife and was an incredible authentic Dominican meal. After lunch Jose educated us on the coffee, vanilla, and coco that is grown in the DR. We even got to taste a raw coco bean freshly popped out of the pod. He then ground up some roasted coco beans along with cane sugar and let us taste some of the best hot chocolate I have ever had. Then we were harnessed up for the 5 zip-lines which took us across the river, through the trees and over the jungle. It was beautiful and I felt safe the whole time with the competent crew. After a Mamajuana toast to the great day and fun we were having with new friends, we headed off the the cattle drive. There we herded about 25 head of cattle who were spread out in a pasture into a little pen in the corner. Except for the Helmet, I felt like a real cowboy for a little while. My family loved this excursion and I would like to thank Jose and his whole crew for a great time!

Best excursion
I can't say enough about Horseplay! What a great team! Jose is the best guide and a great jockey. The cigar factory was the best I saw and although I don't smoke, the aroma will stick with me for a long time. What a wonderful aroma - who knew tobacco could smell good?!
Seeing the countryside and towns really allows you to see what it is like to live in the Dominican Republic. On the way to the cigar factory, we had to stop for a bull in the road who did not want to go back to his yard!
Even better was meeting the owner. Kathy was great and really helped me when I was dumb enough to become dehydrated and felt faint. Due to my stupidity, I wasn't able to complete the cattle drive and she got a van to take me back to meet up with the rest of our small group. Thank you so much!
Everyone was awesome and so knowledgeable. The food was fantastic and it felt like a picnic with friends. I hope to come back some day, I have to get in the cattle drive!

Horseplay
This was our second time on this excursion. We had a blast! The cigar factory, cocoa demonstration, etc. are fun. The horseback riding is great. They had added more ziplines - and lunch was delicious. Our guide, Jose, was a lot of fun. We added the Cattle Drive option which we did before. The only reason I am not giving this a 5 star review, is that the Cattle Drive was not nearly as fun as the first time we did it. I do not think they knew we had signed up for that, and were not overly enthused about taking us. The first time was more like a real cattle drive with the guides leading us. This was more like "there's some cattle, go get them". On our ride back after the cattle drive, we did not go through the river like the group does, but they simply took us on the path we had ridden out on. All and all, a great excursion and I would highly recommend it. Not sure I would recommend the Cattle Drive option though - don't think the staff like that much...

Read first to decide if this is what you are looking for
I booked with Horse Play after reading all the positive reviews , and it is unlike me to write negatively but we were very disappointed. Our shuttle service was 1/2 hour late and then we drove for 1 1/2 hours + into and around other resorts picking up people. Katie is very nice and friendly but her staff insist on yelling random phrases while horseback riding. Have never had a non peaceful ride before. While I understand they can not control what come down river, it was very upsetting to see large amounts of trash in the woods as we rode.
It seems that the horses are over worked. While we zip lined, ate, watched cocao grinding and delayed time , 3 other groups rode the poor horses that then were required to carry us. The cattle drive was nothing more than bothering hot, tired cows with equally tired horses to go across an area and then go back.
The bus ride back was long- our driver pulled into a gas station after dropping off some passengers , where we sat and waited with no explanation. Finally, an unmarked van came by and said he would now be our driver. He squeezed 8 adults into 6 seats ! 2 very nice ladies had to sit on their partners laps. Sweaty hot and very unsafe. NOT worth $ 100 apiece
I apologized to my husband ! Really hard ! We left an all inclusive and paid a lot of money for our first unpleasant international experience after traveling for 20 + years. Sorry it was this way
