Description

Join this extreme expedition to a wild and unforgettable experience behind the wheel of your UTV! This is the only UTV tour on the island where you visit the Indian Caves and you swim, snorkel in the amazing Natural Pool “Conchi” in one extraordinary journey! With automatic gearboxes and power steering, it is by far the most comfortable and safest UTV to drive in Aruba.

The tour starts from the moment we pick you up at your hotel or resort. You will be brought to our office, which is located only 10 minutes away from all major resorts, where you will be greeted by your tour captain.

During this over 4-hour off-road UTV safari, you will visit the following spots:

Indian Caves: Along Aruba’s windward coast, in the deep recesses of rock, you will find mysterious wall paintings left behind by Indians. The Guadirikiri Cave is famous for its two chambers, illuminated by the sunlight streaming through holes in the roof of the cave. The Fountain Cave is the most popular one for the Arawak drawings on the ceiling that provides a real sense of island history.

Conchi Natural Pool: In a unique rock formation, volcanic stone circles a small depression, creating the tranquil natural pool of Aruba. The location of the pool is surrounded by some of Aruba's most rugged terrain, so a visitor truly gets the feeling of having "discovered" something when they reach the site. The Conchi Natural Pool is Aruba’s most remote, yet most famous natural attraction.

Jamanota Hill: The highest point of Aruba, 180 meters above sea level. This place offer spectacular panoramic views of the island.

Arikok National Park: This beautiful nature reserve is home to a variety of unique attractions and cultural heritage sites, including spectacular caves, original Indian rock drawings, unusual land formations made from lava, quartz diorite and limestone, guided nature walks through dry river beds to secluded bays like Moro, Boca Prins and Dos Playa.

Ice cold water is offered throughout the day. Your tour captain will guide you through areas on land, and under the sea, that reveal the island’s true beauty.

At the end of the tour, you will be returned to your hotel.

Context upfront: my partner and I haven't done a ton of off-roading, so if you're experienced with ATVs/UTVs, you might have a totally different experience. We assumed that this tour would be designed for folks with a mix of experience levels; maybe that was a bad assumption.

That said: our guide wanted to take us on some "alternate routes" which were pretty sketchy. The guide at the front went at a blistering pace that was really stressful given the steep inclines and declines, large sections of road gouged out by water, and stretches which were mostly loose rock. Unsurprisingly, two out of twelve UTVs broke down (one of them was ours). When ours broke down, we were already down a vehicle, so the rearguard guide let us drive his, and clung on to the back until we caught up, then joined the other guide in the front vehicle. This meant we spent the rest of the drive at the back of the tour, with no guide at the back in case we broke down again; we couldn't slow down or we'd lose the group, but we were afraid to maintain the fast pace given the conditions. Another couple had a breakdown right at the edge of a T-junction with a steep dropoff. Pretty nervewracking. We did not feel very safe on this tour.

The vehicles themselves were not in great condition compared to other UTVs we saw at the Natural Pool, like De Palm Tours. Unlike their vehicles, these had bald tires, no sideview mirrors, and manual seatbelts that were difficult to tighten. The tour guide also made gay jokes, a rape joke, and a couple that were walking the line of being racist. Leave the jokes back in the 90s stand-up special they came from, they've aged very badly.

The sites were beautiful. I'm glad we got to see them, but I really wish we'd gone with a different tour company.
Response from supplier
Hi nomad, we appreciate you for giving us a whirl, unfortunately, by you, we came up short for which we apologize. The context you provide upfront is helpful. Our tour is indeed for a mix of experience levels. The intention of my retort is not to contradict you in any way, however I do want to give context and explain how this works for others seeking information on our UTV off road safaris.

"Alternate routes" in this case is just "routes", we go off road, that's what we do. We promote the stops we make but never mention routes. Having said that, the routes we take are tried and true, which we are certain that our guests can handle of all driving skill levels.

Our UTV tour guides cannot go at a "blistering pace" as you mention, as our machines have limiters, which means they cannot reach the legal speed limit in Aruba. A quick FYI for other readers, our UTV have a hard top, but for the rest if open-air. We suggest you to bring eye-wear (ideally goggles) and something to protect your face from dust, like bandanas that we have available. In terms of break-downs, the machines are mechanical, and failures may happen, which we try to solve as quickly as humanly possible. It is not possible for me to comment on other companies on this platform.

I did ask the guide about the jokes you claim he told and according to him he did indeed told jokes, which he does all day long, but never the type of jokes you said he told.

It is regretful that you felt the way you did, for which we apologize. If there is anything else you would like to add or if there is something that we can still do, please contact me at ops@abc-tours.com. Gabriel de Mey, Operations Manager.

We were told to arrive @ 1:45 for our tour. We arrived on time and waited over an hour to take off. It was a waste of time for us as we would have loved to have spent an extra hour of our day at the pool or beach - not the parking lot of ABC.

Once we took off the tour was fun - it was a very technical course - a little stressful but - an adventure.

Bring GOOD eye protection, wear your hat backwards and be prepared to get really dusty and dirty.
Response from supplier
Hey cmnettle, thank you for sharing and for bringing this to our attention. You are totally right, you shouldn't have to wait this long, this was unacceptable. Please accept our apologies.

We do try to ta launch as quickly as possible, but sometimes there are reasons beyond our control that hinder the prompt departure. We cannot skip the safety briefing and instruction speech, but also we get delays when other guests aren't ready during our pick up service.

Again, thank you for sharing this comment, it will be put to good use going forward. Cheers. ;-)

This tour is a must! You cannot go to Aruba and not see the natural pool, and riding down on an UTV is the way to go! Our tour guide Joel was fantastic! seriously an amazing guy. He took us a little off the regular trail, stopped at more interesting stops and took us on a wild but fun ride. We had a little issue with our UTV (tip: get the $50 insurance!!) and he was still very calm, and made light of the situation. Getting picked up and dropped off at the hotel was super convenient. All in all a fantastic experience that isn't to be missed.

Our morning tour got off to a good start with a smooth morning pickup. After some paperwork we were off to the Arikok national park. The first 20 mind or so will seem boring as you follow the main roads but don't worry it gets real funky real quick. Soon after entering the park you are crossing terrain that, at times, seems dangerous but the buggies can handle it. The rewards are great views and some beautiful and otherworldly landscapes.
Response from supplier
Hey Louis, thank so much for sharing. We enjoyed reading about your experience on our Natural Pool & Cave Explorer by UTV. You are right. The landscapes are otherworldly, we wholeheartedly agree. Thank you for sharing. Cheers. ;-)

Where do I start! WOW. It is no question as to why this company is rated #1. My husband booked all of our honeymoon excursions and the UTV day was definitely one of our favorites. The UTVs are top of the line and higher end than the competitors. We considered renting a jeep and driving ourselves but no way would that have been as fun or had the same experience. Our tour guides, Joal and Patrick, were amazing and made the day as memorable as it was. They made me feel safe and gave an interesting background at each of our stops. We definitely had some screams on the roads but nowhere near flipping or dangerous. I would 10/10 recommend booking ONLY ABC tours when you visit Aruba.

Oddly, the heavy rain didn’t dampen our spirits... Joal and his “big sister” Patrick were perfect hosts, very entertaining and professional guides, that ensured our excursion was not only safe but also informative.
I strongly recommend this tour for all ages.
Many thanks Joal, Patrick and all the ABC Tours Staff - you have made our first visit to Aruba, most memorable.

We have been to Aruba over 10 times in the past 15 years and wanted to check out the natural pool. We booked the UTV tour online before we left .The day we booked the tour, it got cancelled due to the weather. We were waiting outside our hotel and it was past 8 and I was lucky that my hotel has free wifi and checked my email. We were contacted at 7:45 that our tour was cancelled. We called right away and were able to book the tour for the next day.
It was a little chaotic when we arrived to the building to pick up our UTV. Many people getting dropped off a the same time and waiting for their guide. We did not leave the building until 8:55 which was almost a half hour after the tour was suppose to begin. Our tour guide was Ivo and Iv. They were a father son duo who were both informative and were good guides. Our guide Ivo broke two UTV's on our tour and I was thankful that Iv was following in the truck so that the tour was not disrupted.
I did enjoy the sites and especially the Natural Pool. IV went into the water with us and helped those who wanted to cliff dive.
Overall the tour was good, I did not like the pressure at the end to tip( even though he bought everyone a beer) We always tip the guides when we take a tour but the reminder and the suggested tip amount was not as professional.
I would recommend this tour again, just a few bumps :)
Response from supplier
Hi there, thank you joining our tour. Unfortunately, we sometimes have to make a decision in terms safety and weather. Most of the time, on this island, weather passes quickly. . It dries up rather quickly as well. However due to systems in the Caribbean, it pushed more clouds over the island. That's why we wait, but it didn't clear up so ultimately we decided to reschedule for the next day. No everyone may appreciate this, but we prefer to be safe. As you don't have a telephone when you are in the lobby it is difficult to communicate, but we did sent out our staff hotel by hotel for the onces we didn't get in touch. The next day it was still a bit wet, so we had some delays departing. All in all our guests were unscathed after a rather wet week. In terms of soliciting, this shouldn't happen and we will address this internally. Our apologies. Again, thank you for joining our excursion.

Had so much fun on this tour. It was our first time in Aruba and our tour guides IVO and IV were great. This was the 8:30AM-1:00PM UTV tour and we felt it was the perfect amount of time. We stopped at the Eyes of God, Conchi Natural Pool, Fontein Cave & Quadirikiri Cave. They made the experience very entertaining and reminded us that life is all about happiness and loving one another! Definitely recommend. Bring a bandana or face mask/shield as it can get quite dusty or they sell them at ABC. Thanks again Ivo & Iv!

Joal and Patrick made this tour something my husband and I will never forget! Not only were all the tour stops absolutely breathtaking and driving the UTVs a blast but Joal and Patrick were both educational and extremely funny together! They were both very respectful! Endless laughter which made this tour stand out from all the rest! By far one of our best decisions while on our honeymoon! Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be coming back to visit.

During our two week vacation, the UTV tour was one of our favourite activities. It's a fun way to explore the natural park, both my fiancée and I enjoyed riding our own UTV through the rocky outback of Aruba. Patrick and Joël our tour guides had some interesting background information on the places we stopped at: Indian Caves, Natural Pool and the Natural Bridge.
The tourguides always looked out for the safety of the entire group. Two UTVs broke down during the tour and everytime the problem was solved in only a few minutes.
We highly recommend giving this activity a shot if you like to escape the beach for a few hours in exchange for some adrenaline.
Watch out, you are going to get asked just before the start of the activity to opt in for a 50$ insurance covering any damage that might happen to the vehicle. We advise to take it. It would have been nice though to be informed upfront (ie during reservation of the activity) that this cost would come on top of the announced price.
Response from supplier
Hi Benjamin, before touching your comment, we thank you for visiting our island for 2 weeks, that's cool and lit at the same time. Thank you for dubbing our Natural Pool & Cave Explorer by UTV with Patrick and Joal as a Fun Adventure. We appreciate the kudos. In terms of the insurance, this is optional, which we do tell everyone. We also have other products and services available for purchase, which you learn about upon arrival. In terms of your suggestion to "inform upfront", some may experience this as pushy or high-pressure sales tactics which we prefer to refrain from. Instead, when you get to our store, you can choose what you'd like to purchase and what not to purchase. Thank you for the suggestion, though. Cheers. ;-)

I would recommend for anyone who wants to see a large part of the island and wants to some crazy off roading.
