Description

Start your off road buggy tour with a complimentary pick up at your hotel between 7:10 and 7:40 am. Exact pick up time will be advised after reservation. We offer free round trip transfer from main hotels in Punta Cana, Cabeza de Toro, Uvero Alto, Cap Cana and Bavaro.

We start our day with a safety briefing in Bavaro. Your guide will explain the rules and signs, and make sure that everyone is happy and feels comfortable in their buggies. Each driver needs to be familiar with driving manual stick shift. The buggy tour in Punta Cana is available for non-drivers who need a driver, but please note that max 3 non-drivers can attend the buggy adventure from Bavaro per tour. After the short briefing we take off and head to the beautiful countryside.

Our first destination is Nissibon. You will drive over Cruze Islenia which is also called the Dominican Alps. In Nissibon we will stop by a typical Dominican grocery store for a juice and a snack.

After that we will drive about 13 kilometers (8 miles) through a desolate part of Playa La Vacama, surrounded by hundreds of coconut trees. We will keep riding until we arrive to an amazing ranch in a little village. It will be almost lunch time, but before eating, you can dip into the river, take a short kayak ride or just chill in a hammock with your loved one.

Following some fun along the river bank, you will have a typical Dominican meal for lunch with the delicious tastes of the Caribbean.

Later, the owner of the ranch will take us up to the mountain for a spectacular view of the area. If you are into selfies and taking photos, this will be a great spot for shots and remarkable memories. (Note that if the road is wet, it is inaccessible and we will skip this part of the tour.) Then we will go back to the ranch for a cup of coffee and head to our last stop.

On the way back to Bavaro, we will stop at Macao Beach where you can swim in the beautiful, turquoise water or relax on the shore and perfect your tan before we head back to the starting point. We will arrive to Bavaro between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm and then return you to your hotel.

I decided that I wanted to do something fun and interesting for my bachelor party so I came up with dune buggying. I was searching for some of the best dune buggy experiences when I came across Xtreme-Buggy in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. One of the reasons I chose this excursion was because it was stick and cars are always more fun to drive when they are stick. After deciding to give this excursion a shot I booked a trip to Punta Cana for me and guys. I am so happy we went with this excursion because it is the most fun i've ever had and way exceeded any of my expectations.

First off, Angela was so easy to contact and work with while setting up the excursion and the logistics associated with the trip. She was very friendly and easy to talk to and was very accomodating and willing to work with our tight schedule. They also sent a van to our resort to pick us up and drop us off before and after the excursion.

When we got to their shop. We met Charlie (the owner), and Mark, who was our tour guide. Mark was an amazing tour guide!! He was super chill, yet really fun and really easy to get along with; one of the nicest, coolest guys you will ever meet. He was also extremely knowledgable about the buisness, the cars, the country, the culture, and the destinations we were visiting. He gave us a real and in depth look at the Dominican Republic and all that it has to offer.

We started driving out of the shop and we were immediately out onto the public roads of the DR. It was really cool that we were able to drive these vehicles on the highways and city roads as well as off roading through the mud and sand. We made several stops along the full day excursion, including a typical Dominican food market, a typical Dominican house on the country side and several beautiful beaches. He explained a little bit about Dominican lifestyle, culture, history, politics and education with every stop.

For lunch, we stopped at a local women's house and had a real, homemade Dominican meal and it was by far the best meal we had in Punta Cana. There was plenty of amazing food to go around. Everything I had was delicious. One of Xtreme-Buggy's sayings is "You won't go hungry on this trip!" and I can vouche for them. This women was so kind for opening up her home to Xtreme-Buggy and to us even though we were covered in mud. Later in the day, we stopped back here for fresh fruits and coffee. The coffee was absolutely amazing! Full of flavor and just what I needed after a long day of driving and adventure.

After the wonderful meal, I was stuffed and ready for a nap. Luckily, we drove over to the local "Coast Guard" building stationed by a lagoon and took a nice relaxing boat ride across the lagoon to a beautiful undeveloped beach. One of the local guides that accompanied us to this beach climbed one of the tall coconut trees with no ropes to get some fresh coconuts. He sliced them open with a machete and we were drinking fresh coconut water and eating bits of fresh coconut on the beach.

All these destinations were so beautiful and unique in their own ways but my favorite part of the whole trip was the journey getting to each one of these stops. We convoyed our way through the DR over local, busy city roads and long, open highways, getting a feel and a tour of the real Dominican Republic, not just the beach by our resort or the downtown areas of Punta Cana. It felt amazing driving in an open buggy cruising down the highways with the sun drying us off. And of course, we careened through the muddy, rocky country roads and got squirely over the white sand roads through the palm tree forests by the beach. Mark let us open up the cars and not just baby them as we were driving across all types of terrain. These buggies are well maintained and drove beautifully, and comfortably with no issues whatsoever. The whole excursion was a combination of thrillseeking, breathtaking, and eye-opening experiences. I would give Xtreme-Buggy a 10 out of 5 rating! Hands down the best excursion I have ever done! If I ever find myself in Punta Cana again, I am definitely taking another tour with Xtreme-Buggy. No other buggy excursion company can match what these guys have going on here.

I had been looking at doing a dune buggy excursion for the last 2 times i have come to punta cana. every single one seemed to be the exact same thing going to the exact same places with lots of other buggy's.

This was the one excursion i found that was different. It is a full day, but we finished wishing we could have done even more as it was so much fun.

We had a great tour guide that knows so much about the Dominican Republic.

The ride takes you up into the mountains, down to the beach, through a coconut farm, on the highways, on back roads, through small towns. Basically everywhere.

We got to see so many different places and had a blast doing it.

They also only do small groups. Ours consisted of 3 buggies and 1 guide.

The horseback riding does not exist anymore, but there is a unique story behind why that is gone that you can ask about. It was replaced with a boat ride to Limon lagoon. This was one place that also set this apart from other excursions. All the other buggy excursions go to Maco beach, which we did go to, and were there with about 20 other tours. Limon lagoon was isolated. We were the only ones there and it opened up to a beach that is one of the best looking beaches and waters i have ever seen.

This is one of only 2 tours me and my wife have been to in the 8 times we have traveled to the caribbean that we have already said we will do again.

One tip, wear clothes you do not care about. You will get wet, and the mud will stain everything.

Literally just got back to the hotel from this and couldn’t wait to write a review! UNBELIEVABLE Excursion!! Wife and I went and had the buggy to ourselves. The guide was awesome and a ton of fun! The second you met him and the owner you knew you were in for a great time! Buggy’s are LEGIT VW dune buggy’s!! Don’t mistake these for the other companies. Full size and full speed. Definitely need to know manual transmission expertly if you are going to drive! I’d come back to the DR just to do this again!!! You get a real sense of the Dominican culture because they actually take you off the beaten path and show you the REAL life. Highly recommend booking! Deserve more than 5 stars! “No Filter” Mark is the best guide and “Crabby Charlie is hilarious! Cannot go wrong with either!

This was an amazing day! Lots of driving through about every terrain. Lots of stops and food! You won't go hungry!. You definitely need to be a confident standard driver! Those buggy's can move and you get highway, in town, off road, mud etc. Very scenic views and local stops and a few amazing beeches! It would be cool if they had a map of the tour you take so you can see where you have gone. Other than that this was the best excursion we've ever been on! I would do this again in a heartbeat!!!!

This trip includes it all. You get some highway cruising, some beach-front driving, several miles through a palm grove along a secluded coastline, and a run through a fairly muddy and pothole infested jungle trail which the buggies make easy work of. You also get several snacks and a traditional lunch at a jungle hotel, a horeseback ride where they open up fresh coconuts for you to drink from, and to see a very secluded family's way of living far away from paved roads. The driving pace was quicker than I expected which was a pleasant surprise, but by no means reckless. You should be fairly confident in driving a standard as the description says, but only one person per buggy has to drive. Overall this is among my favorite day trips ever. You will get very dirty. You will have a very good time. HIGHLY recommend.

We drove on highways, beaches, back roads, villages. You name it, we did it. Got to drive our own buggy. Guide was insightful, warm, and shared all he knew about the culture of Dominican republic with us. We got muddy so prepare for this. My husband drove but I had the time of my life. Would rate this a 10 star adventure. Would do it over and over if we come back. Worth every penny spent.

We loved that it went to not touristy areas. We got to see Dominican life and how beautiful the country is. Would totally do another tour with the tour group.
