Description

We begin the tour with a pick up at your hotel. We will take you to a typical country house where you can mingle with Dominicans and learn how to live off the land and their organic products. You will get to sample fresh Caribbean fruits, roasted coffee and cocoa.

During the second part of the tour, we will invite you to our beautiful botanical garden. You will learn about native plants and flowers of the island.

You will enter Monkeyland, a beautiful 5-acre land that monkeys have made their home. Follow you guide around this beautiful park and he will introduce you to the friendly locals. You will have close contact with the squirrel monkeys who trust and enjoy the company of humans. They will eat from your hand, sit on your shoulder and pose for photos.

After the interaction with the monkeys, you will be escorted back to your safari Jeep to take you back to your hotel by noon.

Did not expect it to be so much fun
Honestly, I got this tour for free from the company but that's not why I am writing this review. When they offered to take me for free I was not too crazy about the idea of visiting a "monkey zoo" but I did not want to refuse the offer, so I accepted it.

The ride to Monkeyland was fairly long, like 45-60 minutes but you drive through scenic valleys and small villages and the ride itself was already worth it. I just wished they had stopped to take some photos along the way. At some point we had to switch buses but it was okay.

When arriving to Monkeyland, you are split up into 2 groups so it is not too crowded inside (I think my group was about 8-10 people). The other group is given a presentation outside while you wait or you can walk around in the beautiful botanical garden.

Then it was our turn to go and see the monkey. I am 31 years old man but I felt like I was 5. The monkeys are absolutely adorable, playful they come to you and you have tons of great photo opportunities. You can see that they enjoy themselves and they have a huge area to roam around so it does not feel like a zoo at all.

Then we had a coffee and cocoa demonstration and tasting. It was okay but I spent 3 months in the Dominican Republic so I had seen that before several times.

Overall, it was a great experience. Very relaxed and informative. The guides were super friendly, the landscape was scenic and the monkeys were fun to play with. This excursion is worth every penny especially for families.

Highlight of our trip to Dominican Republic
My husband and I took his mother to Monkeyland and Plantation Safari. Staff were so nice and spoke many different languages so no matter where you were from, one of them could communicate with you. Monkeyland is so amazing. We got to interact with the monkeys who are absolutely precious. Staff genuinely care about the monkeys as well. We got to see how they make coffee and cocoa from beans and tasted some great coffee and hot chocolate. I highly Monkeyland.

    Favorite part of our trip
Before we arrived we thought there would be a monkey or two that we would be able to feed. We thought we might have been in a cage that housed a few monkey's and we would be able to feed them. When we arrived and they brought us into the open and the colony full of probably 30 to 40 monkeys began interacting with us was incredible. Our tour guides were very insightful and we really enjoyed the interactions that we had with all the monkeys in their natural habitat. It is highly recommended.

    Great family trip
Took the money land excursion with my 3 year old. The first part of the excursion was learning about coffee and chocolate production. I would have liked to hear about this but my toddler wanted none of it. It was about an hour and she just wanted to see the monkeys. When she finally go to she loved it. Pure joy. The staff is great and you get enough time with the monkeys. After the trip my cell phone fell out of my pocket in one of the vehicles. My resort contacted Runnera Adventures and I got my phone back. ( it took a day and a half and 3 phone calls but I got it) would recommend

    Monkeys
Excellent experience. My husband and I took this tour to see monkeys and were not disappointed. We visited the coffee plantation first and then the monkeys. Our guide for the coffee was so funny that even though it rains a little we enjoyed the tour. Time with the monkeys was great. They are so cute, tiny and soft. As soon as they see the food they start jumping from all places to us. Some kids were scared and crying for they can get very loud and sometimes you can have more than 10 monkeys on top. Enough time to take photos. We loved it!!

    Experience of a Lifetime!
An open-air Safari bus picked us up from our hotel and stopped at several other hotels on the way to a transfer point. From there we traveled up to the mountain area (about an hour trip) and saw the countryside and some small towns. Our travel guide Sammy told great stories about what living in these small areas is like—especially about the importance of the social scene at the car wash! The Monkeyland experience was AMAZING! It was well-run and the monkeys were friendly and tame—but you cannot touch them—they must approach (and jump on/climb all over) you. This was a highlight of our trip! Follow the directions/instructions of the guides carefully...you will have plenty of opportunities to interact with the monkeys and take lots of pictures. Great activity for animal lovers of all ages!

    Amazing and educational!
We did the plantation tour and Monkeyland half day. We didn't want to have too many full day excursions on our trip, but if I could I'd go back and do the zipline full day instead. The tour guide (Benjamin, AKA Young Boy) made the bus ride enjoyable, joking around and pointing out different aspects of Dominican culture in the villages we were driving through that we wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

The plantation tour was interesting and we learned about how cocoa, coconut oil, and coffee are made, sampled some coffee and DELICIOUS hot chocolate, and had the opportunity to buy some of the products we learned about at the end. There's a bit of an uphill hike as you tour the different facilities, but nothing too strenuous for someone who's in decent shape with no medical issues. Mimi was our tour guide and he was delightful (especially considering there was an extremely boorish family on our tour).

The Monkeyland part of the tour was the final leg, and it was a one-of-a-kind experience. You're not allowed to pet or touch the monkeys, but you hold bowls of food while the monkeys run all over you while they eat it. They'll take pictures that you can buy at the end, but you can take your own, too. Do follow instructions and don't try to pet the monkeys and watch where you're walking. They run all over the place, and one of the aforementioned family of boors accidentally kicked a monkey because she wasn't paying attention : /

We went on three excursions throughout our stay in Punta Cana and this was by far the best in terms of the guides, the pacing, and the unforgettable experience of getting to hand-feed a gaggle of spider monkeys. Unlike some other animal-based tours, you get the sense that the Monkeyland habitat is the best place for the monkeys and they're not being exploited for human entertainment--it's just a fun byproduct of what they do at the sanctuary. I can't recommend this tour highly enough!

Awesome time with great tour guides!
We did the monkeyland tour with low expectations and it blew them out of the water. The amount of time you get to spend with the monkeys was great. Although they ask that you don’t pet the monkeys, they’re trained the climb all over you and take the food you’re given to offer them.

The photographers take the time to get a great photo of your group with the monkeys and charge a reasonable rate for the photo.

After that you’re taken through a tour of how the cocoa butter, coffee and coconut oil and water is made. The tour was interesting, explained and demonstrated well. Sammy was very educated and did a great job with us. All your questions are answered and we weren’t rushed through it like other tours we’ve been on.

Would definitely recommend it and it’s a good length of time that doesn’t take a whole day away from your vacation.

    Loved Monkeyland!!
My 16 year old daughter and I absolutely loved Monkeyland! We created many memories together and have pictures and video to bring home. During the tour, we were given little bowls filled with fruit and seeds and the monkeys would jump all over us to get the food. We were able to use our cell phones to take our own pictures, and the tour guide also took pictures that were available for purchase. It was an awesome interactive experience with the animals. The spider monkeys are extremely smart!

    Wonderful!
Monkey Land was a wonderful experience. I've never seen monkeys up close, and boy did that change with this trip! We got some interesting information regarding the species and their habitat, and were given the opportunity to feed them, ensuring an up-close and personal encounter with the little guys. I would highly encourage anyone with a love (or even an interest) in animals to take advantage of this experience.

Monkeys are super cute and well worth the visit
We visited on 8th November the plantation tour took up most of the trip time and the annoying tour guide "sexy papa" kept calling us my children so this part was quite disappointing but when we got to the monkeys it was well worth it. people have complained about the time it took to go over the rules but I liked that they took it so seriously, it showed they genuinely care about their wellbeing and not just a money making scheme.

Also I have seen complaints about having to wait for other people to choose photos . we if you have chosen yours then you clearly have to wait for people behind you to pick theirs. you don't get to leave as soon as you're done just because you're impatient. you arrive together and you leave together.

You don't get much Monkey time but what you do get is quality. you get a bowl f food and the little monkeys just crawl all over you. we got some great photos of them actually looking straight into the camera while sat on us. They were so lovely.

This was probably the best adventure I have done in a long time. Booked through the cruiseline. Was actually listed as City tour/ Monkeyland. Benjamin & Juan did an excellent job with the city tour, with LOTS of information, and then seeing the Monkeys was a treat.
